VW Scirocco TPMS Warning Light Won't Reset | Repair Help

I own a 2008 VW Scirocco and recently noticed a tire pressure warning message on my dashboard. The error persists even after checking and correcting air pressure in all tires. The warning light stays on and the error is stored in the system memory. Has anyone experienced similar tire pressure sensor fault issues with their Scirocco? I would appreciate hearing about successful repairs and what exactly needed to be fixed, whether it was just sensor recalibration or if components needed replacement. Looking to get an idea of the typical fix before heading to the workshop.

I had a similar issue with my 2010 VW Golf GTI last year, the tire pressure warning light kept showing up despite proper tire inflation levels. After a tire check confirmed correct pressure in all tires, the workshop diagnosed a dead battery in one of the tire pressure monitoring sensors. These sensor batteries typically last 5-8 years before needing replacement. The repair involved replacing the faulty air valve sensor unit. Total cost was 280€ including parts and labor. Since the fix, the system has worked perfectly with no false warnings. The tire pressure monitoring system is important for safety, so it is worth getting it fixed properly. Regular tire pressure checks are still recommended even with working sensors. To help diagnose your specific case better, could you provide: Current mileage on the vehicle, When was the last tire change or rotation done, Are you getting the warning for a specific tire or general system fault, Any recent work done on wheels or tires This information would help determine if you are facing a similar sensor battery issue or potentially something else.

Just had my annual service done and currently at 110145km. Thanks for sharing your experience. I actually noticed my error points to the front right tire specifically. The tire itself is fairly new, I had it replaced about 6 months ago after a puncture. The pressure gauge shows the correct inflation but the warning persists. Your sensor battery diagnosis seems likely given the age of my Scirocco. I will have the air valve sensor checked since the symptoms match. Good point about maintaining regular tire checks regardless of the monitoring system status.

Thanks for the additional details. Seeing the error specifically on that recently replaced front right tire strongly suggests a TPMS issue related to that particular wheel replacement. When I had my Golf GTI's tire replaced, I learned that sometimes tire shops can accidentally damage the sensor during mounting, or they might not properly initialize the new sensor to the car's system. In my case, the sensor fault was indeed battery-related, but since your error appeared after the tire replacement, there could be two likely scenarios: 1. The original sensor might have been damaged during the tire swap 2. If they installed a new sensor, it may need proper programming to communicate with your car When checking my service records, I noticed the TPMS issue showed similar symptoms, correct tire inflation but persistent warnings. The repair cost in my situation was 280€, but if your sensor was damaged during mounting, the tire shop might cover some of the expense. I would suggest having the specific sensor on that front right wheel checked first rather than replacing all sensors. A proper diagnostic scan can confirm whether its a programming issue or physical sensor damage.

Thank you all for the insights. Following up on my situation, I took the car to the workshop today and they confirmed a sensor fault in the front right tire, exactly where the pressure warning was indicating. The technician found that during my tire replacement 6 months ago, the air valve sensor was slightly damaged. Good news is that the tire shop acknowledged their mistake and covered most of the repair costs. For anyone facing similar tire pressure monitoring issues, I learned it is worth checking if problems started after recent tire work. The total repair ended up being 150€, of which I only paid 40€ given the circumstances. The warning light is now gone and the system shows correct readings for all tires. Regular tire checks will remain part of my maintenance routine, but it is reassuring to have the monitoring system working properly again. Air pressure alerts are important safety features worth keeping in good working order.
