VW Scirocco Oil Sensor Warning Signals Engine Risk

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I had very similar problems with my 2016 Scirocco last winter. The engine oil sensor was giving false readings and throwing multiple warning lights. Got it fixed at a local garage and thankfully it turned out to be just a sensor issue rather than anything major with the engine. How much did the repair end up costing you? Did you face any other sensor issues since getting it fixed? Been doing regular car maintenance checks since my experience but curious if these problems tend to come back.

After getting the oil sensor issue fixed at my local shop, everything has been running perfectly. The faulty sensor warnings completely stopped after they repaired the cable connection, turned out the connector was indeed the culprit, just like in your case. The total repair cost came to 95€, which included diagnosing the oil monitoring system and fixing the defective wiring. The car maintenance technician mentioned these sensor issues are pretty common, but once properly fixed they rarely return. My oil level sensor has been working flawlessly for the past 8 months. No more false alarms or warning lights on the dash. Regular maintenance checks are definitely smart to catch any potential sensor problems early. The repair was straightforward and much cheaper than replacing the entire sensor unit. The engine has been running smoothly since the fix, definitely worth getting it sorted rather than ignoring those warning lights.

After my experience with the engine oil sensor warnings, I took it to my trusted mechanic last month. The repair was quick and painless, only took about 2 hours in total. The oil monitoring system had been giving false readings due to a damaged wiring connector, not the sensor itself. My mechanic cleaned the connection points, replaced the worn connector, and recalibrated the automotive oil system. The whole repair came to 120€, which was a relief since I was worried it might be something more serious with the engine. The car has been running perfectly since then, no more warning lights or faulty sensor readings. Really glad I got it checked out when I did. Would definitely recommend getting any oil sensor issues looked at promptly rather than waiting for bigger problems to develop.

Recently fixed a similar oil detection issue on my 2014 Golf GTI. The symptoms match exactly what you describe, oil pressure warnings and sensor alerts despite normal engine operation. In my case, the oil signal malfunction came from a corroded wiring harness connector at the oil pressure sensor. The automotive oil monitoring system was receiving inconsistent readings, triggering multiple warning lights. The fault codes pointed to the sensor issue, but the actual problem was the connection. The repair involved: Testing the oil pressure sensor functionality, Cleaning the connector terminals, Replacing the damaged wiring connector, Recalibrating the sensor system, Clearing fault codes Important to know: While a faulty sensor or connection may seem minor, ignoring oil pressure warnings can risk severe engine damage. Best to have it properly diagnosed and fixed. The repair time was about 2 hours. Would recommend getting the wiring harness and connections checked first before replacing the entire sensor unit. This type of oil signal problem is relatively common on VAG engines from that period.
