Thanks for sharing your experience with the Golf. The symptoms really match what I am seeing with my Polo. Good to know it was the injectors in your case. Did you notice any additional issues popping up after the initial fix? Just want to make sure I get everything checked properly when I take it in. My check engine light started flickering before staying on permanently, which makes me wonder if the mass air flow sensor might also be involved. I will have them inspect both the injectors and oxygen sensor readings. Would you mind sharing what the total repair cost was in your case? Trying to budget for the worst case scenario.

Just got back from having my Golf fixed after sharing those initial symptoms. Happy to report the running lean issue is completely solved now. The mechanic confirmed what I suspected, an injection valve was faulty, causing inconsistent fuel delivery. Total cost came to 515€ which covered: Replacing the defective fuel injector, Testing the fuel injection system, Full diagnostic check, Labor costs The car runs perfectly smooth now with no jerking or power loss. The mass air flow sensor and oxygen sensor readings are all normal after the fix. My mechanic explained that a bad injector can sometimes trigger false readings in other components, which is probably why your check engine light was flickering before staying on. The catalytic converter was also checked and thankfully hadnt been damaged by the lean condition. Would definitely recommend getting it fixed soon to avoid any potential damage to other components. No additional issues have come up since the repair, the engine management system is working exactly as it should. The investment was worth it for the peace of mind and restored performance.

Just got my Polo back from the mechanic and wanted to update everyone. The diagnosis confirmed it was indeed the fuel injectors causing the problems. Two were partially clogged and needed replacement. Total repair came to 680€: 2 new fuel injectors, Full system diagnostic, Intake manifold cleaning, Labor costs The check engine light is now off and the car runs perfectly. No more jerking or power loss issues. The oxygen sensor readings have stabilized since the repair, confirming the lean condition is fixed. Very glad I didnt wait longer as the mechanic found early signs of catalytic converter stress from the bad fuel mixture. Getting it done now likely saved me from more expensive repairs down the line. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences. For anyone facing similar symptoms, definitely get those fuel injectors checked early. The difference in performance is night and day.

Had similar issues with my 2012 VW Golf 1.2 TSI. The symptoms you describe match exactly what I experienced, jerky acceleration, rough idle, and power loss. The problem turned out to be faulty fuel injectors. One injector was completely clogged and another was leaking, causing uneven fuel distribution. The diagnostic showed the engine was indeed running lean, just as you suspected. The repair involved: Complete fuel injector testing, Replacing 2 defective fuel injectors, Cleaning the throttle body while everything was apart, Resetting the engine management system This was definitely a serious issue that needed immediate attention. Failing fuel injectors can lead to catalyst damage and increased fuel consumption. The rough running will only get worse if left unaddressed. Also worth checking the oxygen sensor readings since they work together with the fuel injectors to maintain proper air-fuel mixture. When fuel injectors malfunction, oxygen sensor readings often show inconsistent values. The repair resolved all symptoms, smooth acceleration returned, idle stabilized, and check engine light cleared. Regular fuel system cleaning could help prevent similar issues in the future.
