VW Lupo Climate Control System Failure & Error Code Alert

Need help, Parking heater not working on my 02 Lupo. The climate control system wont activate and theres a stored error code. Car is a 2002 VW Lupo gasoline with 91213km. Had a bad experience with my last mechanic, so looking for advice on what this could be and if anyone had similar heating system issues. Could it be the temperature sensor or something more serious? Any recommendations for a proper fix would be great.

Had a similar issue on my 99 VW Polo 1.4. The auxiliary heater stopped working completely during cold weather. After diagnostic testing, it turned out the temperature sensor was faulty, causing incorrect readings to the climate control unit. Initially thought it was the blower motor since there was no air flow, but further inspection revealed a coolant leak near the heater core connection. The temperature sensor malfunction prevented the system from properly regulating the coolant flow through the heater core. The repair involved: Replacing the temperature sensor, Fixing the coolant leak, Bleeding the cooling system, Clearing the stored error codes This was a serious issue that needed immediate attention since it affected the entire heating system and could potentially lead to engine cooling problems. The coolant leak could have caused more damage if left unaddressed. Would recommend getting a proper diagnostic scan first. These symptoms often point to either a faulty temperature sensor or heater core issues. Best to have it checked soon before it develops into a bigger problem, especially if you notice any signs of coolant loss.

Thanks for sharing your experience. This sounds exactly like what I am dealing with on my Lupo right now. The ventilation system problems are really concerning me and your detailed explanation helps a lot. Quick follow up, did you end up getting any other issues after fixing the temperature sensor and heater core? Also wondering what the total repair cost was. My local shop quoted me quite high but I want to compare prices before proceeding.

Good news, after getting it fixed, no other issues came up with the auxiliary heater or climate control system. Everything has been running smoothly for months now. The ventilation system works perfectly and all error codes are cleared. The repair was straightforward once the mechanic identified the actual problem. It turned out the glow plug was defective, not the temperature sensor as initially suspected. Total cost was 440€ for parts and labor, which included testing the entire heating system to ensure proper function. The repair price might vary depending on what exactly needs fixing, but having a properly working heater core and climate control is worth the investment, especially during cold weather. Not having to deal with ventilation system problems anymore gives real peace of mind. Getting it fixed by a qualified mechanic was definitely the right choice. Much better than risking further damage to the auxiliary heater components by delaying repairs.

Thanks for the input. After reading about similar experiences, I went ahead and got my Lupo checked by a certified mechanic. The blower motor was working fine, but they found issues with the climate control sensor and a small leak in the heating system. Total repair came to 520€ which included: New temperature sensor, Heater core flush, Fixing the coolant leak, Full system test Got it back yesterday and the ventilation system is working perfectly now. The shop did a thorough job checking everything and even showed me the faulty parts they replaced. No more cold drives and the climate control responds instantly. For anyone with similar issues, dont wait too long to get it checked. What starts as a minor heating system problem can lead to bigger headaches if ignored. Really glad I got this sorted before winter.
