Thanks for the detailed response. After 41534km of trouble-free driving, this is my first electrical issue. Following up on your questions: No battery work or disconnections. The warning messages show General System Error and Infotainment System Failure right after starting the car. My key fob still works perfectly. The warnings stay on during the entire drive. Had my last service just 2 weeks ago with no software updates performed. The timing seems strange since everything worked fine after the service. The issue started suddenly yesterday morning. Would really appreciate guidance on whether I should attempt any basic troubleshooting or head straight to the dealer while the car is still under warranty.

Thanks for those details. Based on what you describe, your situation sounds different from my transport mode experience, especially since there was no recent battery work or software updates involved. In my case with the Passat, the transport mode issue showed up immediately after service work. The sudden onset of your electrical problems without any prior work points more toward a potential control module fault or communication issue between vehicle systems. I would strongly recommend going directly to the dealer while under warranty rather than attempting DIY fixes. Even basic car electronics troubleshooting could potentially complicate warranty coverage. When my Passat had similar warning messages but for different reasons last summer, attempting basic resets only masked the underlying issue. The combination of general system errors and infotainment failure, especially occurring right at startup and persisting, typically indicates a more serious electrical system concern. The fact that your key fob and basic vehicle functions still work suggests the main control modules are at least partially operational. The dealer will need to perform a complete diagnostic scan to identify which systems are reporting faults. While transport mode is always worth checking, given the circumstances, they will likely need to investigate other potential causes like faulty control modules or wiring issues.

Based on your feedback and experience with similar VW issues, I will contact the dealer tomorrow to schedule a warranty service appointment. Since the car is still driveable and the immobilizer and key fob are working normally, I feel comfortable driving it there rather than having it towed. You make a good point about not attempting DIY fixes that could affect the warranty coverage. While I am generally comfortable with basic car maintenance, electrical system diagnostics are best left to professionals with proper diagnostic check equipment, especially given the complexity of modern vehicle systems. The timing relative to my recent service is puzzling, but I will make sure to mention this to the service advisor when explaining the car configuration and warning messages. I really appreciate you taking the time to analyze the differences between my situation and the transport mode scenario you experienced. Will update once the dealer determines the actual cause of these electrical system malfunctions. Thanks again for helping me avoid potentially costly DIY troubleshooting attempts while under warranty.

As someone with good experience working on VWs, I had a very similar situation with my 2020 VW Passat TDI last year. The symptoms match exactly what you describe, dead infotainment and electrical warnings. The diagnostic check revealed the car was indeed stuck in transport mode, which can happen after software updates or if the battery gets disconnected. The good news is this requires no parts replacement. My dealership fixed it under warranty by performing a complete system reset and updating the car configuration. The entire process took about 2 hours. Since your Golf is a 2021, this should also be covered under warranty. Before providing more specific advice, could you share: Has the battery recently been disconnected or replaced? Have you had any recent software updates or automotive electrical work done? What specific warning messages appear on the dashboard? Does the issue occur immediately after starting or after driving for a while? This information would help determine if your situation matches the transport mode scenario I experienced or if there might be other electrical system concerns to investigate.
