VW Eos Stalling & Jerking Points to Faulty Coil Issues

My Eos is running terribly lately, engine keeps stalling at idle and jerks when I hit the gas. Check engine light just came on too. Everything points to a bad ignition coil, but my last mechanic visit was a total ripoff so I am hesitant to go back. The car has about 150000km on the clock and runs on gas. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Looking for advice on whether this really sounds like a coil issue and recommendations for getting it fixed properly without being overcharged.

Had similar issues with my Golf GTI last summer. The symptoms match exactly what I experienced, engine hesitation, stalling at idle, and sporadic check engine light warnings. The ignition system diagnosis revealed two failing ignition coils and worn spark plugs. The repair involved replacing all ignition coils and spark plugs as a complete set, which is recommended preventive maintenance at this mileage. The original parts had significant carbon buildup and wear. This was a serious issue that needed immediate attention, as failing ignition components can damage the catalytic converter if left unrepaired. For VW engines of this type, ignition coil failure is a known wear item, especially around 130000-160000km. The repair is straightforward for any qualified shop, but proper diagnostic testing is essential to confirm the issue. Would strongly suggest getting it checked soon, as driving with failing ignition coils can lead to more expensive repairs. Recommend finding a shop that specializes in European vehicles and can provide a detailed pre-repair inspection report.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the ignition coil replacement. Vehicle diagnostics pointed to similar symptoms with my VW Eos when it started acting up last month. Cannot agree more about getting it checked promptly. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you paid for the full repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other issues developing? Asking since I am still monitoring my car for any recurring symptoms after the repair.

Glad to provide an update on my coil pack repair experience. The total fix came to 95€ for the faulty ignition coil connection, which turned out to be much simpler than initially expected. Vehicle diagnostics confirmed it was just a loose cable connection rather than needing a complete coil replacement. The car has been running perfectly since the repair three months ago. No more stalling, hesitation, or check engine lights. The spark plugs showed normal wear when checked, so they didnt need replacement yet. Getting the ignition system checked early definitely prevented more extensive damage. If youre still seeing any symptoms after your repair, I would suggest having the vehicle diagnostics done again to ensure all ignition coils are functioning properly. Sometimes these issues can be related to multiple components in the ignition system, not just a single coil pack.

Since getting my Eos fixed last week, I wanted to share how it went. Found a well-rated European car specialist who properly diagnosed the issue. The mechanic confirmed two failing coil packs were causing the engine hesitation and stalling problems. Total cost came to 320€ including parts and labor, they replaced all four coil packs and spark plugs as a preventive measure. Initially thought this was steep, but the thorough diagnostic work and detailed explanation of the repair made me feel confident about the service. The car runs perfectly now, no more jerking or stalling issues. The check engine light has stayed off and engine performance is back to normal. Really glad I addressed the ignition system problems early before they could cause more damage. Going to stick with this shop for future maintenance. Their transparent pricing and expertise with VW engines definitely made the experience better than my previous mechanic visits.
