Hey, thanks for your tip about the engine control unit. A pretty serious thing, as you said. Do you remember how much it cost you? And has anything come up again since then or is your Golf running smoothly again now? Cheers!

Hey, yes, after I went to the mechanic, it was discovered that my ignition coil was also defective and misfiring was detected. This was fixed and since then the Golf has been running smoothly again. Replacing the engine control unit unfortunately cost me €1000, but was necessary to solve the problem in the long term. Hope this helps you! Cheers!

Hey, thanks for the info. 1000€ is a really tidy sum, but if it gets the car running again, it's probably worth it. I took my car to the garage yesterday and it was actually the ignition coil. The mechanic replaced it and the engine has been running smoothly ever since. Fortunately it wasn't the engine control unit in my case. I'm really relieved that my Eos is running smoothly again. Many thanks for your advice! Cheers!

Hey, I had similar problems with my 2011 VW Golf. I also had loss of power, Check Engine Light, and jerking when accelerating. It turned out that the engine control unit was defective. My mechanic replaced the ECU and reprogrammed it. This was a pretty serious matter as the ECU is a key component that controls many aspects of the engine. Once it was replaced, the car ran perfectly again. It could be the same for you, but it's best to have it checked at the garage. Good luck!
