My VW Eos has 14426km on the clock, and I am facing the exact issue. The head unit went completely dark after my latest service. No display whatsoever and zero response from any car speakers. Even the Bluetooth problem persists, as it is not discoverable by any device. The volume control and all audio functions are completely dead. Initially thought it might be faulty wiring since the issue started right after the service, but the workshop checked and confirmed all connections are secure. Based on your repair cost estimate, I might need to budget around 800€ for the replacement unit. Just hoping the audio quality will be restored to factory settings once fixed. Regarding your questions: Display is completely dead, No static, just total silence, Other dashboard functions work normally, Problem occurred suddenly after service, Base model audio system installed

Thanks for those details. Reading your description confirms it's nearly identical to what I experienced with my Golf. When my display went dark after a service visit, I initially suspected the mechanics had accidentally damaged something, but it turned out to be purely coincidental timing. The complete loss of display, car speakers not responding, and the Bluetooth problem all point to a failed head unit, exactly like my case. The fact that other dashboard controls work fine further supports this diagnosis, as it isolates the issue to the audio system components. In my repair, replacing the head unit resolved everything: the display came back to life, volume control started working again, and audio quality returned to normal. The Bluetooth connectivity also started working perfectly again. While 800€ seems steep, the cost is fairly standard for a genuine VW replacement unit. Just make sure they perform a proper system coding after installation, this was crucial in my repair to ensure all functions worked correctly with the car's existing systems. Based on your mileage and the sudden failure pattern, this really does mirror my experience. Would recommend getting it done soon to prevent any potential electrical issues from spreading to other systems.

Thanks for the detailed responses. After getting all this feedback, I feel more confident about proceeding with the head unit replacement. The similarities between the symptoms, especially the complete display failure and loss of all audio functions, make it pretty clear what I'm dealing with. I called the workshop today and scheduled the repair for next week. They quoted 790€ for a genuine VW replacement unit plus labor, which aligns with what others paid. They confirmed they will do proper system coding after installing the new head unit. Really hoping this fixes all the sound system issues including the Bluetooth connectivity. Having no audio and faulty wiring concerns was making me nervous, but knowing others have successfully resolved similar problems with a head unit replacement is reassuring. Will update once the repair is complete to confirm if it restored everything back to normal. Thanks again for sharing your experiences, really helped me understand what I'm dealing with and what to expect.

Having dealt with a similar issue on my 2010 VW Golf, I understand your frustration with sound system problems. After experiencing complete head unit failure and unresponsive dashboard controls, I took it to a certified workshop. The diagnosis revealed a defective display unit causing the entire sound system malfunction. This affected all audio functions and created occasional static noise through the speakers when attempting to use the volume control. The repair involved replacing the complete head unit assembly. Total cost was 725€ including parts and labor. The workshop completed the work in about 4 hours, and the sound system has worked flawlessly since then. To provide more specific advice for your case, could you share: Does the head unit show any display at all? Are you getting any static noise from the speakers? Have you noticed any issues with other dashboard controls? Did the problem start suddenly or develop gradually? Which trim level is your Eos (different audio systems were installed)? These details would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced with my Golf.
