Thanks for sharing your experience. Im still dealing with my 2019 VW Crafter issues but your solution sounds exactly like what Im facing. The security light keeps flashing and the immobilizer seems to be the root cause. Do you remember roughly how much the key programming and immobilizer repair cost at the dealer? Also wondering if youve had any similar electronic gremlins pop up since the fix? My remote start has been acting up lately too so trying to determine if these issues might be connected.

Just wanted to update on my VW ID.3 immobilizer situation. After getting it fixed, the security system has worked flawlessly. The key programming issue was indeed the root cause of the anti-theft system malfunctioning. The total repair came to 45€ for reprogramming the key and syncing the immobilizer control module. The service center confirmed the security light flashing was directly linked to the communication error between the key transponder and the car immobilizer. Since the repair, I havent experienced any electronic issues or problems with the ignition control system. The remote functions are all working normally too, which suggests these systems are often interconnected. If your remote start is acting up along with the immobilizer problems, its likely related to the same security system malfunction. Getting the key properly programmed should resolve both issues, as it did in my case.

Thanks for the helpful responses. I finally got my 2019 VW Crafter fixed last week. After dealing with the constant starting issues and flashing security lights, I took it to an authorized service center. Turns out the car immobilizer system was indeed the culprit. The technician found that the key signal was degrading, causing the anti-theft system to engage out of nowhere. They had to reprogram both keys and reset the entire security module. The whole repair including diagnostics cost 320€. Initially I was worried about potential ongoing car electronics issues, but everything has been working perfectly since the fix. The remote start now functions correctly and the engine starts reliably every time. Looking back, I should have taken it to a specialist sooner instead of trying various quick fixes. For anyone facing similar immobilizer problems, dont waste time with temporary solutions. Get it properly diagnosed by someone with the right diagnostic equipment who knows these security systems.

Recently dealt with a similar immobilizer fault in my 2016 VW ID.3. The symptoms matched exactly, intermittent starting problems and security light flashing on the dash. The anti-theft system was triggering incorrectly due to a communication error between the key and the immobilizer control module. The issue required professional diagnostic equipment to properly identify the fault codes. An immobilizer bypass was not possible, the system needed a complete reprogramming of both the key and the security module. This is typically a dealer-level repair as it requires specialized VW software to sync the components. The repair involved: Full diagnostic scan, Immobilizer control module testing, Key transponder verification, Complete security system reprogramming, Testing all start sequences This was a serious issue that could not be fixed with basic tools. The ignition control problems were resolved after the proper programming, but attempting DIY solutions risks damaging the security system further. Would suggest having a certified technician check the immobilizer system and key programming. These electronic security issues typically dont resolve themselves and can leave you stranded.
