Thanks for sharing that experience. I faced a similar transport mode issue on my Crafter last winter. The car configuration went haywire after a regular oil change, and even the key fob started acting up. Had trouble with engine start and basic electronics. The workshop sorted it with a software update and system reset. Curious, do you remember the repair cost in your case? Also, has everything worked properly since the fix, or did you notice any lingering issues with the electrical systems?

Thanks for asking about the follow-up. Since getting the car electronics reset, everything has worked flawlessly on my Transporter. The diagnostic check they performed cleared all transport mode issues completely, and the car configuration returned to normal. In my case, the mechanic fixed it without charge since it was clearly their oversight during routine maintenance. Similarly to your situation, the software update and system reset resolved all problems, from the key fob functionality to the general electrical systems. The workshop acknowledged it was their responsibility to ensure proper deactivation of transport mode after service. Been driving for over a year now without any recurring electronic glitches or system malfunctions. The car performs exactly as it should, with all modules communicating correctly.

I went back to the original mechanic who did the service. Explained the transport mode activation and electronics issues. They admitted it was their mistake during the maintenance work. Thankfully, they fixed it under warranty since it was their oversight. The repair took about 45 minutes. They ran a complete diagnostic scan, reset the vehicle settings, and properly deactivated transport mode. Cost me nothing but time. All car electronics are working perfectly now, navigation is back online, engine start is normal, and the dashboard warning is gone. Been driving for about 3 months since the fix with zero issues. Everything from the key fob to the control modules works as intended. Good reminder to always check vehicle settings after any service work to catch these problems early.

Had this exact situation with my VW Transporter 2.0 TDI from 2011. The transport mode activation is a common issue after service work when automotive technicians forget to properly exit the service settings. The symptoms match perfectly, failed navigation system and erratic car electronics behavior. The immobilizer and vehicle settings get disrupted when transport mode remains active. This happened after a routine maintenance where the mechanic connected the diagnostic tool. The fix required a proper software update and reset of the transport mode through a professional diagnostic system. While not a serious mechanical issue, it needs immediate attention as it can affect various control modules and vehicle functions. A qualified workshop can resolve this in about an hour by: Deactivating transport mode, Resetting vehicle settings, Running a full system diagnostic, Clearing any stored fault codes Best to return to the workshop that did the service. They should handle this under warranty since its likely related to their recent work.
