Thanks for sharing your GTI experience. Actually seeing very similar dashboard light issues with my 2019 Caddy, losing power and going into limp mode. Taking it to the shop tomorrow for a proper vehicle diagnostics check. Do you remember roughly what the repair cost was in your case? Also curious if youve had any recurring engine issues since getting it fixed? My local mechanic quoted a diagnostic fee that seems high, trying to gauge if its reasonable.

Had the repair done last week, total cost was 180€ for removing the faulty third-party chip tuning and restoring factory settings. The fault code that triggered the check engine light is now completely cleared and hasnt come back. The diagnostic scan showed it was definitely caused by incompatible tuning software, just like my previous GTI case. Since restoring to factory specs, the engine runs perfectly, no more power loss or limp mode issues. The scan tool confirmed all systems are now running at normal parameters. A proper vehicle diagnostics session is worth the investment, especially when dealing with modern engine management systems. Some shops charge less but might miss critical fault codes if they dont have VW-specific diagnostic equipment. The repair cost actually saved money long-term by preventing potential engine damage.

Thanks for the advice. Wanted to update on my situation. Took the car to a certified VW workshop yesterday. Their scan tool picked up multiple fault codes related to the fuel injection system. The diagnostic fee was 150€ which included a thorough engine inspection. Turns out there was a faulty fuel pressure sensor causing the power loss. Total repair including parts and labor came to 380€. The car computer is now showing all clear and the engine runs like new again. No more check engine light or power issues. Really glad I went with a proper diagnostic instead of trying quick fixes. The mechanic also provided a detailed report of all tested systems which gives peace of mind. Lesson learned, when dealing with modern engine issues, its worth paying for proper diagnostics with the right equipment. Will definitely use this shop again for future repairs.

Had similar symptoms with my 2017 VW Golf GTI. The check engine light triggered after a third-party chip tuning installation. The car computer showed multiple diagnostic codes related to boost pressure and fuel timing. The root cause was incompatible software mapping from the aftermarket tuning. This created conflicts with the factory ECU settings. The car went into limp mode to prevent engine damage, a serious protection mechanism that shouldnt be ignored. The fix required: Complete ECU reset, Removal of third-party tuning software, Reinstallation of factory programming, Clear stored fault codes, Full diagnostic scan to verify system restoration This issue requires proper diagnostic equipment and manufacturer-specific software tools. Avoid shops that lack VW-specific diagnostic capabilities. The car computer needs proper recalibration to factory specs to prevent long-term engine damage. Based on your symptoms, recommend getting a complete diagnostic scan at a shop with certified VW technicians. The fault codes will point to whether its also tuning-related or a different underlying issue.
