VW Atlas Keyless Entry Failure: Door Actuator Alert

Latest service was done at 110000km. Thanks for the detailed response. The check engine light is off but I get a door control unit error when scanning. The issue affects only the driver side door, all other doors work fine with keyless entry. Windows and mirrors are working normally. I noticed the problem started after heavy rain last week, so moisture could definitely be a factor. The wiring fault you mentioned makes sense given the timing. I will check the wire harness area where the door meets the body for any visible damage before bringing it in. Would you know if this type of repair typically requires programming or recalibration of the door sensor after fixing the wiring? Just trying to understand if I need to factor in diagnostic fees on top of the repair work.

Thanks for providing those details. The timing with the rain and single door issue strongly points to moisture damage in the door wiring harness, similar to what I dealt with on my VW. When I had my driver side door fixed, the repair shop did need to recalibrate the door control module after replacing the damaged wiring section. The diagnostic and programming fees added about 60€ to the total repair cost. Its worth noting that some door actuator components can be sensitive to water exposure, but in my case, only the wiring needed attention. From your description, it sounds very similar to my situation, especially since other electrical functions are working fine. The door handle electronics and keyless system often share the same wiring path through the harness, which explains why both are affected while manual operation still works. A professional diagnostic scan will confirm if its the same wiring issue, but given the rain correlation and single door symptoms, Id bet youre looking at a similar repair cost to what I experienced, roughly 150-180€ total including programming. Quick tip: Until you get it fixed, check if theres any water pooling in the rubber boot between the door and body. This can help prevent additional damage to the locking system components.

Thanks for that insight. Your repair experience really matches my situation, especially the part about moisture being the likely culprit. I feel more confident now about what to expect at the shop. Based on the door control unit error and single door issue after rain, the wiring harness seems the most logical starting point. A 150-180€ repair cost including diagnostics and programming sounds much more reasonable than replacing the entire door electronics system. I checked the rubber boot area you mentioned and found some dampness, so I wiped it down to prevent more damage to the door actuator components. I will schedule the repair this week and make sure they check the wiring harness first before looking at more expensive sensor issues. Good to know about the programming requirement too, I will make sure to mention the door control module recalibration when booking the appointment. Thanks for helping me understand what I am likely dealing with here.

I had a similar door electronics issue with my 2014 VW Tiguan. Having some experience with VW electrical systems, I can relate to this problem. The symptoms matched exactly what you described, complete failure of the keyless system while the manual key still worked. A diagnostic scan revealed a wiring fault in the door switch connection. The issue was traced to a damaged wire harness where it flexes between the door and body. The repair involved replacing a section of the wiring and reconnecting the door sensor. Total cost was 95€ for parts and labor. Much better than replacing the entire locking system or door electronics module. Before suggesting more specific solutions, could you share: Has the check engine light or any other warning lights appeared? Does this happen on all doors or just one specific door? Are there any other electrical issues like windows or mirrors not working? Have you noticed any exposure to water or moisture in the door area? This information would help determine if your issue matches the common sensor issue I encountered or if it might be something different in the door electronics system.
