Last service was at 85000km. Thanks for the detailed reply. The error codes are B10087 and B10088. The check engine light isnt on, but theres a small warning symbol on the dashboard light display. The steering wheel buttons all work fine except the cruise control ones. Everything else runs normally, no issues with throttle response or acceleration. My main concern is the complete loss of cruise control functionality, as I use it frequently. The steering wheel controls for other functions still work perfectly. Given what you mentioned about the throttle position sensor, Im wondering if this could be related to the clock spring since its only the cruise control buttons that stopped working.

Thanks for providing those additional details. Your symptoms actually differ from what I experienced with my Tiguan. Given that only the cruise control buttons are affected while other steering wheel controls work, this does point to a different issue than the throttle position sensor I dealt with. The error codes and symptoms you describe strongly suggest a clock spring problem. In my case, before replacing the throttle position sensor, the workshop also checked the clock spring since its a common failure point affecting steering wheel controls, including cruise control functionality. A failing clock spring can cause intermittent or complete failure of specific steering wheel functions while leaving others working. This matches your situation perfectly, cruise control buttons not responding while other steering wheel controls remain functional. From my experience with VW electrical systems, when the clock spring starts failing, it often affects cruise control first before impacting other functions. The repair cost for my throttle sensor was 95€, but a clock spring replacement typically runs between 200-400€ depending on the part used. Before heading to the shop, check if your vehicle is still under warranty, as clock spring issues are sometimes covered. Would you mind checking if you hear any unusual clicking sounds when turning the steering wheel? This could help confirm if its indeed a clock spring issue.

Given what everyone shared, Ill head to the shop next week. Those symptoms with the clock spring match exactly what Im experiencing, including that faint clicking when turning the wheel that you mentioned, I just checked. The throttle position sensor seemed likely at first, but since all my other controls work fine and only the cruise control buttons are affected, the clock spring theory makes more sense. Good news is my VW still has 6 months of warranty left, so Ill try getting it covered under that. Really appreciate the detailed responses about both the clock spring and speed sensor possibilities. This will help me have a more informed conversation at the service department. At least now I know what to expect and can avoid unnecessary repairs or diagnostics. The error codes and symptoms seem to line up perfectly with the clock spring issue.

Having dealt with a similar issue on my 2017 VW Tiguan, I can share what worked for me. I have some experience maintaining and repairing VW vehicles. The cruise control failure was traced to a faulty throttle position sensor connection. The main symptoms were identical, complete cruise control failure with stored error codes. Initially thought it might be the pedal switch, but the workshop diagnosed a loose cable connection at the throttle position sensor. The repair involved checking all connections and replacing a damaged wiring connector. Total cost was 95€ for parts and labor. The fix was relatively straightforward once properly diagnosed, and cruise control has worked flawlessly since. To provide more specific guidance, could you share: What error codes are showing up? Does the check engine light stay on? Are there any other electrical issues, like steering wheel controls not working? Have you noticed any changes in throttle response while driving normally? These details would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced or if it might be something different.
