Blower does not work properly
Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Hey, appreciate the info! Yeah, my Vectra's been giving me grief with this problem for about two weeks now. Just had my last service 3 months ago at 270643 KM, and everything was fine then. The blower really starts acting up when the temperature drops below 10°C, sometimes works fine, other times barely pushes any air through. The temperature control seems totally unusual too. Sounds pretty similar to what you experienced with your Astra. Think I'll get it checked out at the shop this week. Better safe than sorry, especially with winter coming up. Thanks for sharing your experience, at least now I have a better idea of what I might be dealing with!
Hey again! Thanks for sharing those details about your Vectra. when you mentioned the cold weather thing, it's exactly what happened with my Astra! Mine started playing up at around 265,000 KM, so we're in the same ballpark mileage-wise too. I actually remember now that before I got mine fixed, I tried cleaning the AUC sensor myself (watched some YouTube tutorials), total waste of time! The problem kept coming back until I just bit the bullet and got it properly replaced. Best 90 Euro I ever spent, honestly. Since you're having these issues when it's cold, definitely get it sorted before winter really kicks in. You don't want to be stuck without proper heating when temperatures really drop. My mechanic also checked the blower motor resistor while he was at it, might be worth asking them to take a look at that too, just to be thorough. Keep us posted on what your mechanic finds! Always good to share these experiences!
Thanks so much for all the detailed advice! You've really put my mind at ease about this whole situation. I've actually just booked it in at my local garage for tomorrow morning, told them about the AUC sensor theory and they seemed to think it was a good starting point. Really glad I didn't waste time trying to clean the sensor myself like you did! And thanks for the tip about checking the blower motor resistor too, I'll definitely mention that to them. Hoping it'll be a straightforward fix like yours was. You're right about getting it sorted before winter, don't fancy driving around in the cold with dodgy heating! I'll update the thread once I get it back from the garage, might help someone else down the line with the same problem. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience, it's been super helpful!

Hey there! I have some experience with cars, and I actually had a similar issue with my 2002 Vauxhall Astra. I feel your pain, these climate control problems can be super annoying! Had the same symptoms on my car, faulty blower and temperature control going crazy. Took it to my regular workshop, and they diagnosed it as a defective AUC sensor. The fix was pretty straightforward, they just replaced the sensor, and everything went back to normal. Cost me around 90 Euro including labor. Could you share more details about when this started happening? Like, does it act up more when it's cold or hot outside? Knowing these details would help confirm if you're dealing with the same issue I had. These Vauxhalls from that era often have similar sensor issues, but it's best to get a proper diagnosis just to be sure. Good luck!
