Thanks really appreciate the detailed explanation. Your issue does sound identical to what I'm dealing with. The connection problem makes total sense given all these unusual glitches. If you don't mind me asking, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole job? Also, has everything been working smoothly since the repair, or have you noticed any other electrical quirks? Cheers!
Hey again! Happy to give you an update! The repair at the Vauxhall service center cost me 155.00 €, they had to fix a faulty cable connection that was messing with the BUS system. Since getting it sorted, my Astra has been running like a dream! No more wonky nav system, no warning lights, all the electrical stuff is working perfectly. I'm actually really glad I went to them rather than trying to save a few quid at a regular garage. These electrical gremlins can be super tricky to diagnose, but they nailed it. It was definitely worth every penny to have it done properly. Trust me, once you get it fixed, you'll be amazed at how many little annoying things you'd gotten used to that suddenly work properly again! Let me know how you get on with yours, hope you get it sorted soon! Cheers!
Thanks for all the help! Just wanted to update you on what happened. I took your advice and went to the Vauxhall specialist last week. You were spot on, it was indeed a wiring issue, though in my case it was a bit pricier at 210.00 € because they had to replace more of the wiring harness. The mechanic was really professional and explained everything clearly. They fixed it in about a day and a half, and I've got to say, the car feels like new! The nav is working perfectly, no more unusual warning lights, and all the electrical systems are behaving themselves. It's such a relief to have this sorted. Really glad I didn't try to cheap out with another regular garage. Sometimes you just need the right specialist for the job. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. Really appreciate it! Cheers!
Hi there, I've got a 2014 Vauxhall Astra 2.0 CDTI and went through something very similar last year. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I experienced, nav system failure, unusual electrical glitches, and warning lights coming on and off. In my case, it turned out to be a damaged cable connection to the main control unit that was disrupting the CAN-BUS communication system. The cable had worn through due to vibration over time, causing intermittent connection issues between various control modules. Got it fixed at an authorized Vauxhall service center, I wouldn't trust this kind of electrical diagnosis to a regular shop. They had to replace the wiring harness and reprogram several modules to get everything talking properly again. It was a significant repair that took them about two days to complete properly. My recommendation would be to head straight to a Vauxhall specialist who has the right diagnostic equipment for these systems. These communication issues can cascade into bigger problems if left unchecked. Good luck with the repair.
