Vauxhall Adam Electric Seat Malfunction: Fix & Cost Guide

Electric seats malfunction

Hey everyone, my 2016 Vauxhall Adam (172k km) is giving me headaches with the electric seats. They're not working properly, and the error message keeps popping up. Had a not-so-great experience with my previous mechanic, so I'm hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with similar electric seat issues in their Adam? What was the actual problem and how much did the repair cost? Looking for recommendations on reliable mechanics who know their way around these specific problems too. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2018 Vauxhall Corsa (gasoline) last summer. The electric seat adjustment started acting up, and I was getting those annoying error messages too. Turned out it wasn't as serious as I initially thought. When I finally took it to my garage, they found that there was a loose connection in the wiring harness under the seat, and one of the plugs had some corrosion. The mechanic cleaned the contacts, secured all the connections, and replaced a damaged cable that was causing intermittent failures. The whole thing took about 2 hours to fix. I'd suggest finding a garage that specializes in Vauxhall electrical systems. These problems can be tricky to diagnose if the mechanic doesn't have the right diagnostic equipment for these models. Just make sure whoever works on it checks both the wiring and the control module, as these can both cause similar symptoms. Not a massive repair job, but you want someone who knows what they're doing with the electrical systems. Hope this helps!

Yeah, sounds exactly like what I went through! Really good to hear you got it sorted without too much hassle. Those electrical gremlins can be super annoying, right? Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? And has everything been working smoothly since then? My local Vauxhall specialist quoted me a bit high, so I'm trying to figure out if it's in the right ballpark.

Hey again! Just wanted to update you, since getting my Corsa fixed, the electric seat has been working perfectly! No more error messages or any funky business. The repair was actually pretty reasonable, ended up paying €95 for fixing the faulty cable and cleaning up those corroded connections. Honestly, it was money well spent. My mechanic did a thorough job with the wiring harness, and I haven't had a single issue since. Actually kinda wish I'd gotten it sorted sooner instead of putting up with those annoying error messages for weeks! If your specialist is quoting way more than that, might be worth getting a second opinion. Unless they're seeing something more serious, the wiring issues on these Vauxhalls are usually pretty straightforward fixes. Let me know how you get on with yours!

Thanks so much for all the info! Actually, I bit the bullet and took it to a different mechanic yesterday, one that specializes in Vauxhall electronics. You were spot on about the wiring being the culprit! Turned out I had pretty much the same issue, corroded connections and a damaged wire under the seat. They fixed it up for €120, which wasn't too bad considering all the headaches it was giving me. The seat's working like a charm now, and those annoying error messages are finally gone! Funny how we put up with these things for so long before getting them fixed, right? Really glad I asked here, saved me from going back to my old mechanic who probably would've charged way more and might not have even found the real problem. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me make the right call!
