Unresponsive brake pedal

Hey everyone, Recently noticed some scary brake issues with my 2003 Mitsubishi Toppo (69k km, gas engine). The brake pedal feels really soft and sometimes doesn't respond well. Both ABS and DSC aren't working, with warning lights lit up on the dashboard. Last mechanic I went to wasn't very helpful, so I'm a bit hesitant about where to take it. Has anyone experienced similar brake system problems with their Toppo? Would really appreciate recommendations for trustworthy mechanics who've dealt with this kind of issue, particularly with brake pressure sensor problems. Thanks in advance!

I had a similar issue with my 2006 Mitsubishi Colt last summer. The soft brake pedal was definitely concerning, and I had the same warning lights on my dash. Turned out my brake system wasn't properly bled after some previous work, and there was air in the lines. Had to take it to a specialist brake shop where they did a complete system bleed and checked all the sensors. They found the ABS module needed cleaning and recalibration too. It was quite serious since brake issues should never be ignored, they got it sorted in about a day. Now the pedal is firm and responsive, and all warning lights are off. If you've got the same symptoms, I'd definitely get it checked ASAP. Those warning lights usually mean there's air in the system or a sensor issue. Don't drive it much until it's fixed, it's not worth the risk.

Hey, thanks a lot for sharing your experience! I was getting worried about my Toppo's brakes, but hearing this gives me some hope. I'm curious, do you remember roughly how much the whole repair set you back? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other quirks pop up? Thanks!

Hey there! Glad I could help ease your mind a bit. Yeah, after getting my Colt fixed last summer, everything's been running perfectly smooth, no more brake issues whatsoever. The mechanic spotted right away that the system wasn't bled properly, and there was also that pesky signal error from the pressure sensor on the brake booster that needed sorting out. The whole thing cost me 90 Euro, which honestly wasn't bad at all considering how important brakes are! It was definitely worth every penny, and I've had zero problems since. The pedal's nice and firm now, all the warning lights stayed off, and the brakes are responding exactly like they should. Just make sure you get it checked soon, brake issues aren't something you want to mess around with. Trust me, you'll feel so much better once it's sorted, just like I did with my Colt. Let me know how it goes!

Hey! I really appreciate all your help! Just wanted to update you on what happened. I took your advice and got my Toppo checked out last week. Turns out you were spot on, there was air in the brake lines, and the ABS sensor needed a good clean. Found this great mechanic who really knew his stuff. The whole thing cost me about 110 Euro, a bit more than what you paid, but they also replaced some worn brake fluid while they were at it. Took them about three hours to fix everything. what a difference! The brake pedal feels solid now, all those annoying warning lights are gone, and the car stops like a charm. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it helped me make the right call instead of keep worrying about it. Feels great to have safe brakes again!
