Hey there! That's a relief to know, I started panicking thinking the oil pressure control valve issue was a total disaster! Glad to hear it was sort of straightforward for your Leon. The metal shavings in the oil are definitely my next worry - sounds like something I really should act swiftly on. Does anyone else have similar experiences with the shavings? Should I anticipate any other defects popping up from this? And by the way, do you recall roughly how much you shelled out for fixing that faulty wire harness? Thanks! You've given a good deal of solace amidst my car drama. Appreciate you sharing your experience! Be well.
Hey again! I hear ya, car troubles can be a trip down panic lane, alright. Regarding the metal shavings, I seriously recommend getting that checked out pronto. That stuff could mean something's wearing down inside your engine. As far as anticipating other defects, it's just best to get a full in-depth engine check-up man, don’t leave anything to chance! Now, onto my experience with the defective wiring on the oil pressure control valve, I ended up parting with about 350€ for that gig. They changed the bad harness and voilà, the sneak oil pressure control malfunction was history. I tell ya, after seeing the mechanic, it ran like it was fresh off the assembly line. Always here to lend an ear. Good luck with your Tarraco and keep us posted! Stay safe on the road!
Hey, Thank you! You've definitely helped calm my nerves about this whole ordeal. You're spot on about getting the metal shavings checked ASAP. I'll be scheduling an appointment first thing in the morning for a full engine check-up, not taking any chances with this. Thankfully, I've got some savings for these kinds of emergencies. £350 isn’t exactly a joy ride, but at least the charge isn't through the roof. Fingers crossed my Tarraco ends up running smoothly just like your Leon. Lol, Here's to hoping for an "assembly line fresh" performance post-mechanic visit! Oh, and indeed, will keep you all posted here. Really appreciate your sharing your experience! And same to you, stay safe on the road! Cheers.

Hey, Had a somewhat similar issue with my 2017 Seat Leon a while back. Also noticing that oil light coming on and odd behaviour from the oil pressure control. Turns out, it was the cable harness on my oil pressure control valve that was defective. Even had oil all over it causing it to malfunction. While it may seem like a potential disaster, it wasn't too serious with mine, just a lot of sweat and worry. My mechanic needed to replace the old harness with a new one, and then everything went back to its normal operation. The metal shavings in the oil might be a different issue though, it could be due to some sort of internal wear in your engine. Better get it checked ASAP, as you don’t really want to mess around with stuff like that. So, don't panic just yet, but do get your Tarraco to your garage swiftly. While it wasn’t fun, the solution for my faulty oil pressure control valve was completely straightforward. All the best. Stay safe.
Hello, I have a "small" problem with my seat Leon 5F built at the end of 2017 where I'm a bit at a loss as to what's going on... and I just got a readout device for the car for "fun" in this case the Carly adapter and connected it. Lo and behold, suddenly the error "oil pressure control valve electrical error" appears, but there is no oil light and nothing on the speedometer. The car drives smoothly and shows no signs that anything is faulty. Could anyone help me who has had the same problem and what the costs might be? The problem where I see if it is a bad error because as I said the error was in the diagnosis or is still there and can not be deleted. And as nothing was displayed in the speedometer I don't know how long the fault has been there.

It's possible that the error code you're seeing is a result of a faulty sensor or wiring issue, especially since you're not experiencing any noticeable driving issues or warning lights. However, it's also possible that the oil pressure control valve is beginning to fail but hasn't completely failed yet, hence no warning lights. I would recommend having a mechanic inspect the oil pressure control valve and its wiring to ensure everything is functioning properly. If there is a problem, it's better to catch it early before it potentially leads to more serious engine damage. Could you please update us on the progress? Do you have any other questions?

Hello, thank you for your reply. To be on the safe side, I have already made an appointment with the workshop for next Monday as soon as a successful diagnosis has been made, I will let you know. But the fact that no indicator light has come on is a good sign, isn't it? Because I think that the engine has not been damaged because, as I said, it is actually working perfectly. And I have recognized it through the readout that and thus then go to the bottom. How much do you think I can expect to pay if it is something in the wiring and what exactly needs to be done? How much will it cost to change the oil pressure control valve? Also, do you know exactly where the valve is located?

The absence of an indicator light is a positive sign, but it doesn't rule out a potential issue. The cost of repairing or replacing the wiring can vary greatly depending on the extent of the damage, but it's usually not overly expensive. If the oil pressure control valve needs to be replaced, you could be looking at a cost of around $200-$300, including labor. The valve is typically located near the oil filter or the engine block, but its exact location can vary depending on the model of the car. Please keep us updated on the diagnosis and let us know if you have any other questions.
