Hey there. Reading your response, it's like déjà vu for me. My 2020 IS had similar issues a couple of months back - complete nightmare it was. Yes, the main culprit was the electronics in the outside door handle, known issue on these models apparently. Your mechanic did right by you, pulling out the whole assembly and giving it a thorough check. That's exactly what I ended up having to do as well. My outside lights were also doing a whole circus act on me, flickering like crazy before going dim. Unusual here, but can you remember more-or-less what you had to shell out for fixing it? I'm curious to check if what I paid was fairly standard. And has there been any more electrical gremlins after the fix? Thankfully, mine's been quiet so far. Touch wood. Cheers for sharing your experience, though - makes me feel less alone in this!
Hey. Funny you should ask about the cost - it's still fresh in my memory, as I hadn't been expecting a bill like that! Sorting out the defective cable connection to the outside door handle electronics set me back about 110€. A bit steep, but worth it in the end, considering the peace of mind it bought. Since the mechanic did his magic, all the weird lock and light behaviours have come to an end. It was quite an adventure, I tell ya. But I'm glad to inform that the gremlins seem to have fled, and everything's been shipshape since then. Your experience sounds exactly like mine so I wager you probably paid something in the same ballpark. It's a relief hearing your Lexus has been behaving after the fix as well. Tinkering with the electronics ain't no picnic, so it's great when it all works out. Cheers for the chat!
Hey there! Thanks a ton for replying, guys! It's strangely comforting to know you've been in the same boat. And thanks for the reassurance! Yes, the electronics aren't anything to mess around with. Hence, I'll be heading to sort this out with a mechanic sooner than later. My past experience with the last mechanic was making me a bit hesitant. But reading about your experiences has put my mind at ease. Ah, it ain't cheap being a car owner, is it? But, yeah, peace of mind does come with a price tag! Good to hear both your IS's are behaving post-fix. Fingers crossed, I'll have similar success. Cheers, guys! Your insights have been super helpful.
Hey there! I can fully relate to your situation. I have a 2019 Lexus ES and faced something pretty similar a while back. The outside door handle was acting all sorts of funky and turns out, it was indeed an electronic glitch. To be exact, the cable connection to the outside door handle electronics to the control unit was defective in my car. I had erratic lock behavior, lights were flickering, basically the full package that you described. So, we seem to be treadin' on the same path there. My mechanic was pretty thorough I'd say, he pulled out the entire assembly to fix the annoying issue. Above and beyond, he tested every part of the system for me due to which the hustle and bustle stopped. Yes, it was a bit serious as these are electronic issues and can cause a major headache if not taken care of immediately. Surprisingly, I wasn't expecting such a problem from a car model like ours. It's one of those wee surprises nobody wants, you know? In a nutshell, don't ignore these symptoms, my. You'll feel relieved once you sort it out with a decent mechanic, trust me on this one. I hope your car issue gets resolved soon, cheers!
