Key fob issues

Locking/Unlocking issue

Hey! I'm driving a 2019 Kia Telluride, gasoline engine with around 99077 km on it. Lately, been having some trouble with the access control. My key fob is misbehaving and the lock/unlock isn’t reliable anymore. Been to a mechanic before, didn't have a great run with them. So, thought I'd check out here, anyone faced similar issues? What was your experience with your mechanic regarding this? Cheers!

Hey there! I surely know what you're going through! I had a similar issue with my 2016 Kia Optima, just a year back. The comfort access, specifically the door handle, was acting all wonky. The fob played up just like yours and the lock/unlock were more like hit-n-miss. Took it straight to my usual garage. Still remember the mechanic's face when I explained the issue. They suggested some issue with the key fob and door handle sensors, affecting the comfort access system. Well, they had to replace the faulty door handle and tweak the key fob a bit. It wasn't anything major, yet needed professional hands to fix. Pretty much smooth sailing since then, no more surprises! So, might be something similar with your Telluride. Do have a thorough checkup! Take care!

Hey there! Thanks for sharing your experience, really helps! Seems like our problems were pretty similar. I'm just curious, do you remember how much you had to cough up for getting it fixed? Also, has anything else acted up with your Optima since you got this issue fixed? Awaiting your reply, cheers!

Hi again! I'm glad my previous experience could give you some insight! About the costs, I splashed out around 390.00 € to get the faulty parts sorted. That mainly included the replacement of the defective door handle for the comfort access. And to answer your second question, my Optima has been behaving quite well since the fix. It was a one-time fluke, I reckon. After the mechanic had a look and did the necessary fixes, the access control has been as smooth as butter. No further problems at all! Hope this helps you out! Take it easy!

Hello again! Thanks a ton for your prompt response! You've given me a good idea of what to expect. Around 390.00 € seems a bit hefty but as they say, "better safe than sorry" right? Super glad to know that your Optima is behaving well after the fix. Here's hoping for the same with my Telluride. Will get it checked out professionally soon. Again, appreciate your help and let me know if I can return the favour sometime! Take care now! Cheerio!
