Hey, thanks for the quick reply! You really did have the same problem with your Mégane. Could you tell me how much the repair cost you back then? Has anything happened again since then or is everything running smoothly now? I'd be really interested to know what I could expect. Thank you!

Hey, no problem, you're welcome! The repair cost me 1550 euros. That was quite a lot of money, but since then the defect in the diesel particulate filter has been fixed. Nothing has happened since I've been to the mechanic. The car now runs smoothly, the power is back and there is no more smoke from the exhaust. So in the end it was worth it. I hope this helps you with your decision!

Thank you very much, that really helped me! Yes, it is indeed a lot of money, but if it helps to get the car running again, then it's worth the investment. I will go straight to the mechanic tomorrow and hopefully he will be able to solve my problem in the same way. Thanks again for your valuable information! See you then!

Hello, I had similar symptoms with my Renault Mégane (diesel, year of manufacture 2005, 185,000 km mileage). In my case it was the diesel particulate filter, which was internally defective. Same thing, the check engine light came on and the car no longer pulled properly. Black smoke and increased fuel consumption, all there. So off to the garage. They read out the fault and confirmed that it was the diesel particulate filter. In my case, the diesel particulate filter had to be cleaned and partially replaced. It's definitely a serious problem, as many things are connected to it, so you can't ignore it under any circumstances. So it's best to go straight to the mechanic, who should then know what to do. I hope that helps you a little. Good luck with your car!
