Troubleshooting: Ford Fiesta 2006 - Faulty warning lights and blocked soft top

Convertible top cannot be opened or closed

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Airbag warning light

Hi guys, I have a problem with my 2006 Ford Focus (petrol, 130,201 km run) and need your advice. The soft top won't open or close and the warning lights in the speedometer and for the airbag are flashing. I suspect it could be due to a malfunction of the rollover sensor. Have any of you ever had similar problems and could perhaps tell me how it went at the mechanic? I have rather bad memories of my last visit to the garage and would like to know what to expect. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I had a similar problem with my 2009 Ford Focus. My fuse was defective. The mechanic found the fault quickly, so it didn't take long to replace the fuse. However, it was necessary to check the entire electrical system afterwards to make sure that there was no short circuit or other problem. This definitely took a little more time. It wasn't an extreme problem in my case, but the troubleshooting and subsequent run-down of all possible causes takes time and patience. As this is also about safety, it would be advisable not to take the problem lightly. The best thing to do is to go to a trusted workshop as soon as possible and have the sensor and all the wiring checked. Good luck with that!

Wow, thanks for the informative answer! You really seem to know your stuff. Now I feel a bit better prepared when I go to the garage. Do you think you could remember how much the repair cost you? It would also be really helpful to know whether any other problems, perhaps of a similar nature, have arisen since the repair. Thank you and best regards!

Sure, I can help you with that. I was quite relieved after my visit to the mechanic. The malfunction of the rollover sensor was fixed and everything has been running smoothly ever since. No other problems have arisen - at least so far. I can also report on the costs. It cost me €52 to replace the faulty fuse. I think that was a fair offer. The guys in the workshop did a good job. Of course, your situation may be slightly different, but this gives you an idea of the possible costs. Best regards and I hope your Focus is back in tip-top shape soon!

Hi, that's a great help! It's always a little less stressful when you have at least a rough idea of what to expect. Your experiences sound very encouraging though and I really hope that my problem can be solved just as easily. Thank you again for your help and I'll report back when it's done. But for now I'm reassured and can go to the garage without breaking out in a sweat. Thanks again and see you soon!
