Troubleshooting warning light and worn brakes on Toyota Corolla petrol engine, model year 2011

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey guys, I have a strange problem with my Toyota Corolla petrol, year 2011. A warning light in the speedometer is worrying me. I think it might be worn brakes, but I'm not sure. Have any of you ever had the same problem and could tell me how it was fixed at the garage? I am really grateful for any tips and your experiences.

Hello, I had a similar problem with my 2009 Toyota Auris. I'm not a master mechanic, but I do have a bit of experience with cars and what can go wrong. In my case, the problem was sporadic faulty communication between the control units. It cost me 955.0 euros to have it fixed in the workshop. The mechanic checked everything and advised me to have the electronics checked when the warning light comes on again. To be able to help you better, some more information about your car would be helpful. Does the light have a special code or color? And how does the car behave when the light comes on? Hope this helps you.

Hey, thanks for the quick tip! The light is yellow and flashes quite irregularly. The car actually drives normally when the light is on, but it's just unsettling, you know? And to come back to your question, the car already has 86472 kilometers on the clock and was last serviced about half a year ago. Maybe I should visit my garage and have the electronics checked.

Hey, no problem, you're welcome! From your description, it really sounds like it could be something electronic, especially if the car is driving normally while the light is on. As I said, I'm not a professional, but in my experience it's always better to be on the safe side and get it checked by a professional straight away. Problems can occur with such a high mileage. Six months after the last service might really be the right time to have it checked by a professional, especially if the warning light flashes irregularly. Hopefully the problem will be solved soon and you can drive again without any worries.

Yes, you're right. I should really be on the safe side and have it checked by a professional. Sometimes you just need the advice of someone who's had a similar problem before to motivate you. Without that buddy-like exchange, it probably would have taken me further to take the necessary step towards the garage. So, thanks again for your experience and advice. I will make an appointment in the coming week and bring my Toyota in for a checkup. Hopefully it's nothing too serious. You'll hear from me as soon as I have any news. Until then, have a safe journey and thanks again!
