Troubleshooting the Toyota FJCruiser emergency call system: tips and experiences from the workshop

Emergency system without function

Hey guys, do you have any experience with a strange problem on my Toyota FJCruiser (year 2010, gasoline engine)? The emergency call system is not working properly and I think a fault with the emergency call system could be the culprit. I am looking for any tips or experiences you guys have had with troubleshooting. How did you get the problem fixed at your garage and what were your experiences? Any help would be great!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Toyota Land Cruiser (built in 2008). I would describe myself as someone with some car knowledge. The problem was also control unit faulty, so just took it to the garage and they replaced it there. It cost me about 1000 euros, but I haven't had any problems since. Could you please provide more information about your car, such as the exact vehicle equipment and whether you have had similar problems before? Then I might be able to help you better.

Hi, thanks for your reply. My FJCruiser now has 182099 KM on the clock and the last inspection was just recently. Unfortunately I've never had any problems like this before, so this is all new territory for me. I haven't had any major repairs yet, apart from the usual maintenance work. I will take your advice and take the car to the garage. Hopefully it won't be that expensive! Many thanks for your help!

Hello again! It's good to hear that you want to follow my advice. In your case, with the mileage and the previous maintenance work, it seems reasonable to assume that it could actually be the control unit of the emergency call system. Incidentally, in my Land Cruiser there were no signs that anything was wrong before the emergency call system failed completely. It's always good to go to a garage that knows Toyotas, as they know best how to diagnose and fix the problem. The cost is of course always difficult to predict; in my case it was around 1000 euros. I hope this helps you on your way. Let us know how it turns out! And remember, a non-functioning emergency call system can be a real safety hazard. All the best and good luck!

Hi again, thanks for your understanding and advice. I agree that it could be the control unit. At first I was a bit shocked by the potentially high cost, but safety is of course paramount. I will visit my local Toyota garage and hopefully they will be able to fix the problem. I will keep you posted on how it develops. Thanks for the useful information and good wishes. See you then!
