Hey there! Thanks for the wise words and reassurance. Sounds like you've been in my shoes with your Kona. I'm relieved it might not be a colossal mechanical failure but something more technical. I'll definitely get that diagnostic check done soon. By the way, can you recall about how much you coughed up for the fix? I know costs vary, but having a ballpark figure would be helpful. Also, did you face any knock-on effects since the reset and recalibration? I'm just trying to keep my bases covered. Cheers!
Hey again! Sure thing, happy to help out. As for the cost, my mechanic charged me €195.00 for sorting out the incorrect coding of the steering angle sensor and getting it all nice and calibrated again. I know, a bit of a pinch for the pocket, but cheaper than some other potential mishaps, right? After visiting the mechanic and nailing that defect, the ride's been smooth. No more funky ABS/DSC behaviour or wobbly steering wheel. No follow-up issues or anything like that cropping up either. All that tech-y stuff was way above my head, but a quick trip to the shop fixed it right up. So, hopefully, a diagnostic and a quick fix is all your Ioniq 5 needs too. Mates' rates, right? Good luck with your visit!
Thanks a bunch for the detailed response. That price doesn't sound too shabby considering how the whole situation could have left a bigger dent in my wallet! Your experience gives me a sense of relief. So, I'll get my Ioniq5 to the garage asap. Fingers crossed, my ride will get back to normal after a quick diagnostic check and calibration, just like your Kona. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience and advice. Stellar help indeed! Ta!
Hey, your hunch sounds pretty spot on, with your issues sounding similar to what I experienced with my 2018 Hyundai Kona. The same symptoms across the board, from a wonky ABS, sketchy power steering, right down to the juddery steering wheel. Turned out the coding of the steering angle sensor was indeed off. Now, don't sweat it too much. It sounds scarier than it is. My mechanic needed to run a diagnostic check to confirm the issue. Turns out, the coding just needed to be reset and recalibrated with specialized equipment. So it wasn't a massive problem, just something more on the technical end than a serious mechanical failure. Since your whip is relatively new, there's a fair chance it might just be a computer glitch, given all the tech these rides come packed with. Just make sure you get it checked soon as it can influence your power steering and if left too long could lead to other problems. Here's hoping it's a straightforward fix! Best of luck with it!
