Troubleshooting Power Window Issues and Stored Fault in '08 Volvo V60

Fault stored

Power windows malfunction

"Hey folks, I'm having a few troublesome issues with my '08 Volvo V60 (diesel, 95,206 KM). The power windows have gone haywire and I've also got a stored fault. Last time I visited a mechanic, I had a pretty sour experience. I'm thinking it might be linked to an unsuccessful window regulator learning, but I'm not confident. Has anyone experienced something similar? Any advice, particularly about dealing with mechanics, would be greatly appreciated!"

Hey there, sounds like you're having a bit of a tough time with your V60. Had a similar issue with my '05 Volvo V70 not so long ago. Engine was acting up so I figured it was time to pay the garage a visit. Key problem for me turned out to be the vehicle battery. Aside from the regular issues like axles and brakes, replacing the battery really gave a remarkable improvement. Not just with the engine, it seemed to clear up a bunch of electrical issues, too. Might be the same case with your power windows. As for the mechanic stuff, I'd say just ensure they're well-adept with Volvos. No need to feel intid. You own the car, you're the boss. If you don't feel comfortable with what they're telling you, get a second opinion. Best of luck, hope it gets sorted soon!

Hey, thanks for sharing your wisdom! Way to look at the silver lining, never really thought about the battery's impact beyond engine performance. Thinking about it, it makes sense that it could be a root cause for my window woes. On another note, do you recall how much cash you had to part for the battery replacement? And have any other mechanical gremlins popped up since the replacement? Cheers!

Hey, no problem! Always happy to share some car talk. So yeah, when I had the battery replaced on my V70, it was a bit of a sting in the wallet - ended up peeling off 290€ for the whole shebang. But honestly, it was totally worth it considering the headache of having a reliable motor again. As for the window regulator you mentioned in your first post, after the battery switcharoo, it seemed to cooperate better too. Not sure if it's related, but I did go back to the mechanic for it and that turned out not to be such a nightmare after all. So far, no more nasty surprises! Knock on wood though, right? Keep me posted on your Volvo saga! Best of luck with the fixes.

Heya, thanks a ton for the reassurance! That €290 didn't sound too great at first, but considering the peace of mind and hopefully a car that behaves, it's worth a shot. Spot on reminiscing about the window regulator, I'll make sure to revisit that with my mechanic. Fingers crossed it all runs smooth and I can keep the nasty surprises at bay too. Right then, off to my Volvo saga. Will definitely keep you in the loop, cheers!
