Troubleshooting Issues with Variable Headlight Beams and Warning Light on '04 Nissan Vanette

Low beam and high beam seems too high or too low

|

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey folks, I'm having a bit of a head-scratcher with my '04 Nissan Vanette running on gasoline. The low and high beams have been acting up, they're either too high or too low, and there's a pesky warning light on my speedometer. I'm thinking it may be a problem with the headlight range control. Has anyone here encountered something similar and have any advice on where to start troubleshooting? What was your experience with fixing this type of issue in your workshop? Cheers!

Hey there! Seems like we have similar taste in cars! I've got a '06 Nissan Serena and I had similar headlight issues not too long ago. I have a little experience fixing up cars, nothing professional but enough to get me by. Turns out it was a defective servomotor in the headlight in my case. With a lot of trial and error at the workshop, I had to shell out 1040 Euro to have it fixed. But hey, every car is unique, right? Are both headlights giving you trouble? And have you noticed any other odd behavior from other parts of your car? That'll help me give more detailed advice. Good luck!

Hey! Awesome to meet another Nissan enthusiast! Yes, both headlights have the same issue, no change in their beams and yeah the lights on the dials are blinking randomly too. No other funky behaviors so far. It's recently done a good 189605 KM and its last service was only a couple of months ago so kind'a surprised it started acting up now. Anyway, good to know about the servomotor tip, though I'm praying repair costs will be somewhat friendlier for my wallet. Cheers!

Hey there again! It's great to meet another Nissan lover on this forum. You know, these cars are like old friends, you get to know their quirks over time. The issue with both headlights and blinking dial lights does ring a bell. I remember my Nissan had a similar issue after a hefty bit of mileage, just like yours. Based on my experience, it truly sounds like a headlight range control system glitch. The blinking lights on the dials might be connected to it as well (they're pretty much a distress signal that something's off). As for the repair costs, it really depends on where you live and your negotiation skills with your local mechanic. But first, try resetting your vehicle's headlight range control system or check your vehicle's bowden cables; they might be a little worn, causing the lights to act in a peculiar way. If you aren't comfortable doing this yourself, it's best to get a professional to help. Remember, this is just my personal experience and it may not be the definitive answer. So, get more opinions if you'd like and absolutely take it to a professional if you're unsure. Good luck, bud, and keep us updated. Cheers!

Hey! Glad to connect with a fellow Nissan fan here. I get it, they sure don't make 'em like they used to! You're right about the repair costs, I was hoping to avoid a costly fix, but it now seems like visiting my mechanic isn't that avoidable anymore. Will try to check the bowden cables and reset the headlight range control system first before roping in a pro. Big-time thanks for your advice and expertise, really helped me a lot! Will keep you updated on the progress. Cheers from this side!
