Hey! Thanks for the advice. My Tarraco is a diesel variant. This locking issue has been happening pretty steadily for about a week now. My car mileage is currently at 136802km, and the last service was done a couple of months ago. I haven't noticed any other major issues recently. It's pretty frustrating as you can imagine, especially when I'm in a hurry and the car plays up. Based on your experience, I think it might be worth taking to a dealership for a diagnostic. Cheers for your help!
Hey again! That's quite a mileage on your Tarraco! They're built to last though, so with proper care, I bet you'll squeeze some more life out of it. Looking at your situation, it seems quite similar to what I experienced. However, it wouldn't hurt to check a few other potential issues before taking it to the workshop. There are a few things I can suggest: 1) Battery Health: A weak or dying battery can sometimes be the culprit for electrical issues like the dimming and flickering lights you've been experiencing. With the mileage on your car, it's likely the battery has had a fair amount of use. 2) Fob Battery: The fob battery might also be worth a look. If the battery is dying, it can affect the ability of the car to detect the keyless remote, thereby causing your locking and unlocking problems. Replacing a fob battery is usually simple and cheap. 3) Fuses: Check if the corresponding fuses for locking and lights are okay or not. Dimming lights and sporadic locking could be due to a loose or blown fuse. 4) Wiring as mentioned before: If steps 1-3 turn out to be okay, it might indeed be a problem with the door handle electronics as I experienced. I hope these suggestions help you with the issues you're having. Let us know what the outcome is. Good luck with getting it sorted!
Appreciate the detailed tips! They're pretty straightforward so I think I might try them out before hitting up the workshop. I never would have thought the fob battery or even the car battery could be the cause of such issues. I'll likely start by checking these out. Will definitely keep you posted on how it all goes. Fingers crossed, if it's just a simple battery replacement, it could save me a fair bit of money and hassle. Thanks a ton again for the valuable advice!
Hey there! I had almost an identical issue with my 2018 Seat Leon. I'm just a guy with a bit of car experience, not a pro but handy enough to fix minor car issues. Turns out, it was a problem with a faulty cable connection to the outside door handle electronics. The dealership workshop managed the repair. They diagnosed the issue and replaced the cable. It cost me about 170 Euro. Not cheap, but certainly better than being locked out! It'd be good to know more about your Tarraco though. Which variant is it and how frequent is the issue occurring? More details would help us dig deeper into your problem. Hope this helps a bit!
