Troubleshooting Headlight Cleaning System Issue Linked to Rear-Window Wiper Fluid Pump in 2006 Nissan Primera

Headlight cleaning system without function

Hey fellow car lovers, I'm facing an odd issue with my 2006 Nissan Primera, Gasoline engine. Noticed my headlight cleaning system is down and I'm suspecting it may be a signal error from the rear-window wiper fluid pump. Anyone experienced this before, and if so, any tips for troubleshooting? Really keen to hear how you got this taken care of by your mechanic. Cheers!

Hey there! I had a similar problem with my 2004 Nissan Altima. Just a heads up, I'm no pro but I've got a bit of experience under the hood, so here's my two cents. My workshop ran a full check and it turned out to be a faulty pump cable connection or relay - bit of a nasty surprise but there it was. Needed a decent clean-up and some parts were replaced, ran me up about 165 euro. Don't you just love unexpected car bills? Before we deep dive, could you let us know what's your car's mileage? It might help pinpoint if you're dealing with the same stuff. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the quick response! My Primera's clocked in 21349 km so far. Only serviced it recently. Sounds like a relay issue might be it, I'm gonna get that checked out. Always something with cars isn’t it? Cheers for the heads up on the cost!

Hey again! No worries at all! Happy to help. With just 21349 km, your Primera is still pretty young in car years! The issue might not be as complicated as a relay failure, considering that you serviced it only recently. But again, cars have their own mind, don't they? By any chance, did you check if there's enough cleaning fluid in the system? It sounds basic but sometimes it really does come down to the simplest things. Give that a shot if you haven't already. You might also want to check out the fuse associated with your headlight cleaning system to ensure it hasn't blown. If these aren't the issue, then it could indeed be a wiring or relay problem as we suspected. Keep us posted on what you find out. Wishing you smooth ride of this ordeal!

Hey there again! You're spot on, just because she's young doesn’t mean she's immune to throwing a wrench my way, haha! Had a feeling I should double-check the basics, so I'll definitely put the cleaning fluid and fuse on my list to check out before going in too deep. Really appreciate the advice - fingers crossed it's nothing major. I'll give you a shout once I've news. Ta!
