Troubleshooting and Repairing a 2017 Fiat Mobi with Misfires, Power Loss, and Check Engine Light Issues

Engine shuts off by itself

Strong exhaust smell

Unsteady engine

Jerking on acceleration

Loss of engine power

Check engine light on

Hey! I've been facing a peculiar problem with my 2017 Fiat Mobi with a Gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, the engine often shuts off by itself, and there seems to be a drop in power. Additionally, the engine doesn’t seem steady, there's a jerk while accelerating and a strong exhaust smell too. I suspect misfires might be the cause. Anyone experienced something similar and managed to fix it? Would be really cool to hear how you troubleshot and handled it at your workshop. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! Looks like we've been in the same boat. I had a practically identical issue with my 2015 Fiat Uno, petrol engine model. I'm not exactly a pro with cars, just have some rudimentary knowledge but enough to not feel completely lost. Hit up my local garage; they ran a diagnostic and found out the problem - the injection nozzle/injector was defective. Cost me around 515 Euro for a new one, including labour. It fixed those annoying jerks and shut-off problems real nicely. But hey, to be more specific about your situation, could use a bit more data. What's the exact mileage on your Mobi? Also, have you had any other major repairs or replacements done on it? Would be helpful to know these additional details. Cheers!

Hey there, appreciate your response! My Mobi's sitting at roughly 22547 KM on the dial. No major repairs or replacements, just been doing the regular full service. Thanks for sharing your experience, you got me thinking it may have something to do with the injection nozzle. I think I better get it checked asap. Cheers!

Oh that's still quite low mileage for major issues to happen, but then again, cars do have their moments, don't they? And, yeah, from my experience I'd definitely say it's worth getting that injector checked out, especially if you're noticing similar problems to what I had. Quite a few symptoms there are also common for a faulty injector. Another thing worth mentioning, the strong exhaust smell might be due to unburned fuel caused by the misfires, which would also mean the injector. So, a trip to the garage does sound like a good plan. Best of luck with all the fixes, hope it gets sorted soon. Don't forget to update us when you pinpoint the problem. Cheers!

Hey there! You've been super helpful. I completely agree, you'd think such issues would crop up at higher mileage, but I guess the luck of the draw isn't in my favour this time around. I'll definitely have the injector checked out and look into the exhaust smell issue as well; it's starting to sound like it's all connected. I'll take it down to the garage first thing tomorrow morning. I’ll update you all here as soon as I get a hold of the situation. Fingers crossed it's something straightforward and not too costly. Really appreciate your help and advice, cheers!
