Troubleshooting and Fixing Headlight Range Control Issues on 2019 Renault Arkana

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

|

Low beam and high beam seems too high or too low

Hey fellow car lovers, I've been having a bit of a head-scratcher with my 2019 Renault Arkana, petrol engine version. Lately, the low and high beam settings seem off; either too high or too low, and an annoying warning light pops up on the speedo. I suspect it has something to do with the headlight range control, but not entirely sure. Anybody else faced this issue? How did your mechanic troubleshoot and fix it? Would really appreciate your insights and experiences. Cheers!

Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2017 Renault Kadjar, a few models older. And let me tell you, it was a right headache! I don't have a heap of car expertise (I'm more of a some-experience-kinda-guy), but luckily my go-to mechanic has been in the game for years. Turned out, the culprit was a dodgy servomotor in the headlight- yes, that sounds like an alien part but believe me, it exists! It set me back a cool 1040 euro. Pricey, I know, but it's better than banging your car in the middle of the night because you can't see properly, right? I reckon there could be a few things wrong here, so it's best to get some more info. What's your mileage like and have you had the bulbs changed recently? You got any flickering, or is it just the beam settings playing up? Any more deets will really help in nailing down your issue. Hope that helps! Looking forward to hearing more about your car woes.

Hey, Cheers for the reply! She's sitting at 38451 km right now and no, haven't changed the bulbs recently. It's just the beam settings giving me grief, no flickering or anything. And interesting point about the servomotor, never would've thought of that! Going to see my mechanic soon, I'll ask him to check that out. Thanks again for your help, much appreciated!

Hey, No worries! I'm just happy to help a fellow car enthusiast. Your mileage seems pretty standard so the problem isn't likely due to usual wear and tear. Usually bulb problems are accompanied by flickering, which in your case, doesn't seem to be happening. So the bulbs most probably aren't to blame. Make sure your mechanic has a proper look at the servo motor and the headlight range control. These pesky parts can cause a whole lot of havoc when they aren't functioning as they should! Let us know how you go with your mechanic. Fingers crossed he finds the problem without much headache! Travel safe! Cheers!
