Troubleshooting ABS/DSC Functionality and Airbag Warning Light Issues in 2010 Kia Forte

ABS/DSC system is not working

Hey guys, got a bit of a weird one here. My 2010 Kia Forte with a petrol engine has started showing some odd signs. The ABS/DSC isn't functioning, airbag warning light's on, and there's a stored fault. I'm thinking it could be a communication issue with the steering angle sensor. Has anyone else encountered this? Any tips for troubleshooting this at the garage? Appreciate hearing how you fixed it and what your experience was like. Cheers!

Hey there! Ran into a similar bugger with my 2008 Kia Optima. My car game ain't exactly a top-level pro but I've spent some time in the trenches. Turns out it was a faulty cable connection to the sensor. Local garage sorted it out, set me back 155 Euro. It did fix the issue though. Could be a similar issue for your Forte? What's the mileage? Perhaps I could give you some more detailed advice based on more info. Best of luck!

Hey! Cheers for that insight. My Forte has covered about 91445 KM so far. Just had a service not too long ago. So I reckon your suggestion might be spot on. I'll have to have a word with my local garage about checking out the cable connection then. Can't thank you enough, will keep you posted on how it goes!

Hey, no problem at all, happy to help! With that kind of mileage and considering you've just had a service, the issue might indeed be related to the wiring or the sensor itself. You know, cars today have so many electronics involved, these kinds of things can happen. A good garage should be able to diagnose the problem fairly quickly by scanning for fault codes. Wishing you all the best with it, and do keep us in the loop would love to hear how it gets sorted. Stay safe on those roads!

Thanks a bunch! I'll definitely take your advice and ask my garage to scan for fault codes. I hope it's the wiring or the sensor as you said. Seems to be a less painful fix than I feared. I promise to provide updates when the issue is sorted. Much appreciated for all the help, cheers! Stay safe as well and happy motoring!
