Troubleshooting 2022 Dacia Sandero's Electric Steering Column Adjustment Issue

Electric steering column adjustment without function

Hey everyone, I'm having a weird issue with my 2022 Dacia Sandero with a Gasoline engine. The electric steering column adjustment just isn't working like it used to. I suspect there could be a defect with the motor that controls this adjustment. Anyone else encountered this problem before? How did your mechanic fix it and what was your experience like? Any advice or insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey! I had a pretty similar issue with my 2020 Dacia Duster, also with a Gasoline engine. So, I'm not an auto mechanic, just a guy with some basic car knowledge who likes to get hands-on. Turned out the problem with my car was a defective steering column motor cable connection. I took it to my local workshop and they took care of it. It was a straight-forward fix, they just had to replace the defective cable. All in all, I ended up shelling out around €155. Not the cheapest, nor the most expensive fix I've ever had to deal with. By the way, what's the mileage on your Sandero? Also, has it been exposed to a lot of humidity or flooding recently? These factors could affect the integrity of the wiring. Hope this helps out!

Hi there, thanks so much for sharing your experience, really appreciate it. In answer to your question, the mileage on my Sandero is currently 129273 KM and it definitely hasn't been exposed to any serious humidity or flooding. Given your experience, it seems I need to have the motor cable connection of my steering column checked out. I'll make sure to take it to a reputable mechanic around here and who knows - hopefully, it won't cost me an arm and a leg! Thanks again!

Hey there, glad if my previous experience could help out! You're on the right path by checking out the motor cable connection. Considering the mileage of your Sandero, it's quite possible that some wear and tear is causing the issue, or there might be a manufacturing defect. Then again, every car is a world in its own, isn't it? When you take your car to the mechanic, just make sure they thoroughly diagnose it before they start changing parts. As you're already aware, these fixes can be quite pricey, and you don't want to replace parts that are actually still fine. Anyway, fingers crossed for you! Hoping for a swift and not too expensive fix for your car. Keep us posted on how it goes!

Hi again, you've no idea how much all this advice means to me. You're right, I need to ensure a proper diagnosis is done before any parts get swapped out - don’t want to waste time or money. I'll make it a point to be there when they are diagnosing it, hopefully, learn a thing or two about our cars. And indeed, every car is unique in its way, just like its owner! Thanks once more for the well wishes. I'll keep everyone updated, and hopefully bring good news next time!
