Cheers for your response, bud! I appreciate the insight a lot. My S80 Diesel has clocked around 65,715 KM, ran pretty smooth until this issue popped up. Its last service was not too long ago. I've got a basic OBD reader, I'll give that a shot to see if I can get some error codes and diagnose the problem. If things don't clear up with this, guess it’s a trip to the garage then. Thanks again for the help!

No problem at all! With the KMs on your Volvo, it's not all that surprising that you might come across an issue or two. Cars can be unpredictable sometimes! The OBD reader could give you some good leads on what's going wrong. If you come across any error codes you're not sure about, feel free to bounce them off here. There’s plenty of friendly folks around in this forum to help decode some of those technical terms and guide you through. And of course, if the problem continues, getting a professional to look at it is probably the best bet. Sucks it might cost a fair bit, but better safe than sorry, right? Hope you get your Volvo up and running smoothly again soon! Don’t hesitate to circle back should you need further help.

Sounds good. Thanks for the advice and encouragement. I feel a bit more confident tackling this issue now. I'll make sure to plug the OBD reader in and write down any error codes I come across, might need your help deciphering that techie jumble. And yeah, if all else fails, nothing like a professional's touch to set things right. Looking forward to getting the ol' Volvo purring like a kitten again! I'll definitely swing by here if there are any more problems. Thanks again, appreciate your help big time!

Hey, I've had a similar issue with my '06 Volvo S70, so a model pretty close to yours. I'm not a car expert, but I've got some experience dealing with such things. When my engine light came on and I also noticed decreased power and rough idling, plus the added bonus of black smoke when accelerating, I took it to my local workshop. They figured out that my intake manifold was leaking due to charring - basically, the internal component getting burnt due to heat. The guys in the garage worked their magic and it cost me a cool 1180 Euro for the repair. Not exactly pocket change, but hey, it's running smoothly now. To properly diagnose your issue, I'd recommend you to look at the intake manifold first. Maybe get your hands on OBD scanner, that can save you plenty of guessing. Sending your car to a professional is always my go-to advice though. Can you provide some more info about your car? How many km driven, when was the last service etc? The more info, the better we can help you troubleshoot! Hope this helps.
