Trouble with the electric seat in the 2004 Citroen Berlingo: experience and advice wanted

Electric seats malfunction

Fault stored

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2004 Citroen Berlingo with a gasoline engine and 27251 KM on the clock. I had an unpleasant experience at the mechanic last time and would therefore like to expand my knowledge a little beforehand. My electric seat is acting up - functional restrictions and all that. Some kind of error is stored. Has anyone had similar experiences and been to a mechanic? How did that go? I would be grateful for any advice!

Hey buddy, it was similar with my 2007 Citroen C5 back then. My electric seat also had its quirks. It wasn't a huge problem, but it was annoying in the long run. Basically, I had a defective seat module. At the mechanic's, they first read the fault memory to find out what was really wrong. It was a circus, but the guy managed to fix it. A new seat module then had to be installed. By the way, the workshop stuff here is always useful, you never know when you'll need something. Hope this helps you a bit! Keep at it and don't get stuck, you'll get it done!

Hey, thanks for your reply! The seat module also seems to be the problem for me. Do you happen to remember how much the repair cost you at the time? And have there been any further problems with the seat since then or was everything fine after the module was replaced?

Hey, no problem! On my Citroen at the time, the bill for the seat module was around €435, which I personally thought was quite a lot. But since I went to the mechanic, everything was back to normal - in other words, the functional impairment of the electric seat was definitely rectified. So it was definitely worth it, as the seat has been running smoothly since the module was replaced. So, don't let this get you down, you'll get it sorted!

Thank you very much for your encouragement and the useful information! It's good to know that there were no further problems after the module swap with you. I'm glad I now have a bit more of an idea before I go to the mechanic. Your information about the costs also helps me to prepare for the upcoming repair. I'll see what the mechanic says and hopefully everything will go as smoothly as with your Citroen. Thanks again for your help!

Hey there! Sorry to hear about your Citroen seat troubles. I haven't heard about these kinds of issues before, but have you tried checking the seat fuse or wiring? Did the mechanic mention any specific error codes? It might help narrow down the problem.

Before you head to the mechanic, you could try checking the fuse for the electric seat. It's a simple check and could potentially be the cause of the problem. If the fuse is blown, replacing it might solve the issue. If the fuse is fine, then it's likely a more complex issue like the seat module. In that case, a professional mechanic should handle it.
