Triton's Dead Nav & Audio: Help Needed!

Audio system is not working

|

Navigationssystem is not working

Hey there, I've got a 2020 Mitsubishi Triton Diesel (136k km) and I'm dealing with some electrical issues. Both my nav and audio systems are completely dead. Last mechanic visit wasn't great, so I'm hesitant to go back. Has anyone experienced similar issues with their nav/audio failing simultaneously? Pretty sure it might be related to corrupted navigation data, but I'd love to hear about your experiences and recommendations for reliable mechanics who know their way around these systems. Thanks in advance!

Hey! I had a similar issue with my 2017 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Diesel last year. The symptoms were exactly the same, complete failure of both nav and audio. Initially thought it was a software issue, but turned out to be a loose connection in the main cable harness behind the head unit. Took it to my regular mechanic who specializes in Mitsubishi electrical systems. They had to remove the whole head unit to access the wiring. Found corroded terminals and a partially damaged main connector that was causing intermittent power issues. They cleaned all connections, replaced the damaged connector, and properly secured the wiring harness. It wasn't a major repair, but definitely needed someone who knows what they're doing with these specific models. The issue hasn't returned since. If you're in need of a mechanic recommendation, I'd suggest finding someone who specializes in Mitsubishi electrical systems rather than a general workshop. Best of luck sorting it out.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know about the wiring harness issue. Do you remember roughly how much the repair ended up costing you? I'd love to have a ballpark figure before I start calling around. Also, just curious, have you had any other electrical problems since they fixed it?

Hey again! Yeah, absolutely happy to share, and good news is I haven't had a single electrical problem since getting it fixed! The repair was pretty straightforward once they identified the issue. Speaking of costs, it came to 155€ for fixing the faulty cable connection. They also sorted out that "Navigation system image data invalid" error that was popping up, which was actually related to the same wiring problem. I'd say it was money well spent, my Pajero Sport's nav and audio systems have been working perfectly for the past year. When they opened it up, they found the connection was looser than my grandma's dentures but the fix was solid. Just make sure whoever you take it to knows their way around Mitsubishi electronics, it makes a huge difference. Let me know if you need any other details about the repair. Always happy to help out a fellow Mitsubishi owner!

Thanks so much for all the info! Just wanted to update you, I took your advice and found a Mitsubishi specialist in my area. Took it in yesterday and, wouldn't you believe it, it was almost the exact same issue you had! The connection was all corroded and loose. Cost me about 180€, bit more than yours but still worth every penny. The mechanic was actually great, showed me exactly what was wrong and explained everything clearly. Such a relief compared to my last experience! The nav and audio are both working perfectly now. No more driving around in silence or getting lost without GPS Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, saved me a lot of headache and probably some money too. Feels good to have it sorted properly. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
