Hey there, Thanks a ton for sharing your ordeal. Ya know, I had a hunch it could be something to do with the electrical system, but I wouldn't have thought about the ECU. It’s great to learn from your account of things. Just out of curiosity, do you happen to recall how much that ECU reset and reprogramming set you back? Plus, have you had any related hassles with your Stilo since then? My Barchetta is giving me enough heartaches as it is! Appreciate your insight! Best of luck with your ride. Cheers!
Hey, absolutely no problem sharing my experiences if it helps you out! Funny enough, the ECU reprogramming wasn't as bank-breaking as I had feared. It cost me just about 45€ to put everything in order. Totally worth the peace of mind, let me tell you. Oh, and about the knock-on troubles since then? Happy to report that my Stilo has been behaving itself remarkably well! Ever since that trip to the mechanic, the Transport mode issue got sorted, and it's like my car is back in its prime. So, I'd say it's a solid fix and not some temporary patch, you know? Hang in there, I'm sure your Barchetta will be road-ready real soon. Keep me posted and drive safe! Cheers!
Hey, thanks a heap for the info! I had braced myself for a major hit to my wallet, but hearing about the 45€ expense gives me some relief. It's also terrific to know that your Stilo has been holding up well post-fix. I'll definitely take your advice to the mechanic and try to get that ECU reset and reprogramming. It's promising to hear that your car bounced back from this, gives me hope that my Barchetta will too. Really appreciated the advice! And I will for sure keep you posted. Take care and happy motoring! Cheers!
Hey there, I can totally relate to what you're going through. I drive a 2003 Fiat Stilo and experienced a similar issue some time back. Just like you, my car was showing warning lights and certain functions had ceased to operate. Talk about being paranoid, I knew something was up when my car failed to start one chilly evening. I had to jump start my car to get it running, which is quite similar to your predicament. I'm no mechanic, but from what I gathered when I took mine in, it seemed like there was an issue with the electrical circuitry of the car. Apparently, jump starting the car may have caused an over-surge which in turn affected the ECU (Engine Control Unit). This was the root cause for all the warning lights and the car going into Transport mode. They ended up performing a full system reset and reprogramming the ECU to sort it all out. I wouldn't say it was a serious issue but it sure was a learning curve for me. It taught me the importance of proper battery maintenance and being cautious about jump starting. Hope this tidbit of information helps you out. Best of luck with your Fiat, hope she gets better soon! Cheers!
