Hey there, I totally feel your stress. Sounds similar to a snag I had with my '19 Seat Leon. It turned out to be a wiring harness issue. Corrosion and heat had done a number on it, causing some freaky transmission behaviour. The tinkering took a full day - they had to rip out the whole thing, pinpoint the problem, switch the damaged wires, and reassemble it. Doesn't answer your question about the gear selection display, but a wiring problem could be messing with that too. All things considered, I'd recommend a thorough inspection of your wiring by a trustworthy mechanic. Saves you the hassle of guessing games, right? And remember, a good mechanic is a godsend in situations like this. Try not to stress too much, it won't sort things any quicker. All the best! By the way, do you happen to remember what you shelled out for the repairs? Has your ride been running smooth since or did something else crop up?
Hey again! Yeah, I recall the cost. It amounted to 180 Euro to fix that funky wiring harness. Not the cheapest day of my life, but worth it considering the hassle it was causing. As for the gear selection display issue that you initially mentioned, mine got sorted out when I took my car to the mechanic. Can't say for sure if it was a direct result of fixing the harness or some other tweak he did, but either way, I was relieved. Ever since the repairs, my Leon's been running pretty darn smooth - no more unsettling noises or weird gear slips. Keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way. Sometimes, you gotta bite the bullet and trust the mechanics, huh? Drive safe and hope all goes well with your Tarraco!
Hey, thanks for the follow-up. So, the damage was 180 Euro, huh? Not exactly pocket change, but worth it if it nips the problem in the bud. Interesting note about the gear selection display issue - good to know it might be related and fixable. Nifty to hear your Leon's back on form. Definitely hoping for the same for my Tarraco. And you're spot on about trusting the mechanics - sometimes you just gotta roll the dice and hope for a smooth ride. Thanks again for all your help and advice - I'll keep you posted on how it all pans out. Drive safely!
Hey, I get your concern. Odd shifts and unpleasant noises are never fun. I've got a 2019 Seat Leon, and I had something similar happen a while back. Not the exact same issue, but it was electrical, and it messed up my transmission too. Turns out, the issue was with the wiring harness. Over time, the corrosion and heat had worn out the protective covering and had caused some shorts. That led to erratic signals being sent to the transmission, causing the gear slipping and other weird behavior. It wasn’t something to be taken lightly as wiring troubles can lead to bigger problems down the line. It was a day's job, they had to take the whole thing out, check for faults, replace the damaged wires and put it all back in. So I’d say it’s a notable job for sure. No clue about your gear selection display, but a faulty wiring harness could totally affect that as well. So, it might be worth having your garage do a thorough check of the wiring system. Better to know for sure than keep on guessing, right? Just remember, not all mechanics are a pain. Find a good one, and they'll sort you out. And take it easy, stress won't fix it any faster. Good luck!
