Appreciate your insight! Sounds like our MarkXs have been singing from the same hymn sheet. Those darn lambda sensors, huh? I must say, it's quite comforting to know that this nuance didn't lead to lasting headaches for you. If you don't mind me picking your brain a bit more, do you recall how hard this hit your wallet? And has anything else come up related to this since then? Thanks in advance!
Hey there! No worries, happy to share my experiences. As for the hit on the wallet, I shelled out about 375€ to get the faulty lambda sensor replaced and sort out the exhaust issue. It may sound a bit steep, but trust me, it's cheaper than ignoring the issue and dealing with bigger, costlier problems down the line. Now, about that second part, nope, no other issues popped up after the mechanic got down to work. The exhaust aftertreatment malfunction was sorted out and since then, my MarkX has been running as smooth as a whistle. So, don't fret too much, just make sure you get your car to a reliable mechanic!
Ah, fair do's. Seems like a worthy investment to avoid a more expensive catastrophe. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience, really appreciate it! Well, I guess it's time for me to stop twiddling my thumbs and take the old girl to a mechanic I can trust. Hopefully, she will be back on track without any huff-puff soon. Good to know that there hasn't been any further mess for you after the fix. Fingers crossed, I'll have the same tune to sing! Drive safe, Cheers!
Hey, had a somewhat similar issue with my 2007 Gasoline Toyota MarkX not too long ago. Had the check engine light on, some power loss, and my exhaust didn't smell pretty either. You're right about suspecting the exhaust aftertreatment - turns out the issue was one of the lambda sensors in my car got a bug. These suckers are crucial for your engine's efficiency and emissions, so it's a decently serious situation. If I remember correctly, they replaced the faulty lambda sensor, and also tidied up the exhaust leak in the process. Other than that, it didn't really create any long-term trouble for me. Best to get it checked ASAP though. Hope this helps!
