Toyota CHR 2019: teething troubles and possible message errors

Car won't start

|

Dim or flickering lights

|

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

|

Weak battery when starting the engine

Hi guys! Have any of you ever had problems with your Toyota CHR (2019, gasoline, 180,105 km mileage) similar to what I'm experiencing right now? Car won't start properly, battery is weak, lights are dim or flickering and the warning light in the speedo comes on. I have concerns that it could be a message fault. Would love to know your experiences with similar problems and how your mechanic solved it, especially because my last visit to the garage went pretty badly. Thanks in advance!

Hey, yes, I had the same problem with my Toyota RAV4 (2016, diesel, 190,000 km mileage). It really sounded like the ECU was faulty and sending wrong signals to the BUS system. My mechanic had to completely replace the ECU and then recalibrate the BUS system. He said it was a pretty serious problem and I was glad I hadn't ignored it. So, bottom line, you may have to replace the entire ECU. Hopefully that will help you! All the best my friend.

Wow, that sounds really intense! Do you remember what you had to pay for it? Did anything else happen afterwards or is your car now running smoothly again? Many thanks for your help!

Of course, the repair cost me €1000. A real downer, but since the mechanic fixed the message fault, the car is fit as a fiddle again - purring like a kitten, I tell you! No more problems with starting, weak lights or flickering warning lights. Sometimes you just have to dig deep into your pockets to avoid long-term problems. I can only advise you not to skimp on such things. All the best, buddy!

Thank you, that helped me a lot! It looks like I'm going to have to do the same thing. I guess I'll have to dig deeper into my pockets to avoid bigger problems in the future. Thanks for the advice and stay healthy dude!

Hi, I had trouble clearing the error codes. But we found that if we checked any errors we got, it was possible to clear them. I was probably the me who caused the errors by pulling fuses to check their function, a light didn't work and the cruise control was out of order. Thanks for the help and have a good start into the new year.

Before you start pulling fuses, it's important to check the error codes with an OBD2 scanner. This will give you a clear idea of what the problem might be. If you don't have one, they are relatively inexpensive and can save you a lot of time and money in the long run. After you've checked the error codes, you can then proceed to check the fuses related to the error codes. Please update us on your progress. Do you have any further questions?
