Toppo's Tire Sensors Gone Wild: False Alerts

Tire pressure to low

Hey everyone, having some trouble with my 2004 Mitsubishi Toppo (98k km). Getting constant low tire pressure warnings, even though I've checked and filled the tires properly. Pretty sure it might be a faulty sensor, especially after a sketchy experience at my last mechanic visit. Has anyone dealt with similar sensor issues on their Toppo? Would love to hear about reliable mechanics who've fixed this problem. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2007 Mitsubishi Colt last month. The TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) kept giving false warnings despite correct tire pressure. Took it to my regular mechanic, and they found that the sensor batteries were completely dead. They had to replace all four TPMS sensors as the batteries aren't replaceable separately on these models. Not a major mechanical issue, just an electronic one. The repair was straightforward, they removed the old sensors during tire dismounting and installed new ones. The whole job took about an hour. The system's been working perfectly since then. If you're getting false readings like I did, it's likely the same problem. These sensors typically last 5-7 years before the batteries die. Just make sure you go to a shop that has experience with TPMS programming, as the new sensors need to be properly synced with your car's system.

Hey, thanks so much for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know it was just the sensors needing replacement. Did you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole job? Also, has everything been working smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks with the system?

Hey again! Happy to update you! Yeah, after getting it fixed at my mechanic, everything's been working like a charm. The total bill came to 280€ for replacing the sensor batteries, honestly, not as bad as I was expecting given how finicky these electronic systems can be. The best part is that the tire pressure warnings have completely stopped since the repair. It's such a relief not having that annoying warning light popping up on my dash anymore! My Colt's running great, and the TPMS is now doing exactly what it's supposed to, only warning me when there's actually low pressure. It's been about a month since the fix, and I haven't noticed any other weird behavior from the system. Definitely worth getting it sorted properly rather than just ignoring those warnings. If you end up getting yours fixed, make sure they do the proper programming afterward, that's crucial for these sensors to work correctly with your car's computer. Hope this helps with your decision! Let me know if you need any other info about the repair.

Thanks for all the details! I actually got my Toppo fixed yesterday after hearing about your experience. You were spot on, it was exactly the same issue with the sensors. The funny thing is, I went to this new mechanic recommended by a and they were super professional about it. The whole thing cost me about 300€, just a bit more than what you paid. The mechanic showed me the old sensors, and yeah, they were completely dead. No wonder I was getting those false alarms! They replaced all four sensors and programmed them right there while I waited. The best part? No more annoying warnings on my dashboard! Had a good laugh with the mechanic about how something so small can drive you crazy. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction, saved me from going back to that sketchy place I mentioned before. This new shop's definitely going in my contacts for future repairs!
