Hey, thanks a lot for sharing your experience! You mentioned Johnson's did the job, would you mind telling me roughly how much they charged you for the whole thing? Also, just curious if you've had any other electrical problems since they fixed it? My Toppo's been acting up in other weird ways lately, so I'm wondering if it might all be connected.
Hey there! Yeah, sure, happy to share the details! I just got my Lancer back from Johnson's last week actually. The total bill came to 290€, which covered replacing the weak battery and sorting out all the electrical stuff. Honestly, it was worth every penny because the windscreen heating is working like a charm now, no more foggy windows in the morning! And to answer your other question, nope, haven't had any other electrical issues since they fixed it. The car's running smooth as butter. What kind of weird stuff is your Toppo doing? Might be worth getting them to take a look at it all while they're checking the heating system. Johnson's guys really know their stuff with Mitsubishis, and they're pretty straight-up about what needs fixing and what can wait. Let me know if you need any other details about my repair experience, happy to help!
Thanks so much for all the info! I actually took your advice and went to Johnson's yesterday. You were right, they really know their stuff! Turns out my issue was pretty similar to yours, but I also had a faulty relay that needed replacing. The whole thing set me back about 340€, which wasn't as bad as I was expecting. The best part? They found that my weird electrical issues were all connected, my dashboard lights flickering and the power windows acting up were from the same electrical problem. They fixed everything in one go, and now my Toppo's running better than it has in months! Really glad I asked here and got your recommendation. The guys at Johnson's were super honest and even showed me the old parts they replaced. No more cold morning drives with foggy windows for me! Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction, you saved me from another potential sketchy mechanic experience!
Had a similar issue with my Mitsubishi Lancer 2003 (gas) last winter. The heated windows stopped working completely, and I initially thought it was just a blown fuse. Took it to my regular mechanic, and it turned out the problem was more complex, had a failing voltage regulator and a weak battery that couldn't provide enough power to the heating elements. Got it fixed at Johnson's Auto (they specialize in Asian cars). They replaced the battery and regulator, and also had to repair some corroded wiring connections. Wasn't a super serious repair, but definitely needed proper diagnosis to find all the issues. The heating has worked perfectly since then. Make sure whoever checks it can properly diagnose electrical systems in Mitsubishis, these heating problems often have multiple causes. The fault code really helped narrow down the issue in my case, so bring that along when you go.
