Tips needed: Toyota Etios 2017 jumps over the road and warning light comes on.

Bouncing excessively over bumps

Hey guys, I need your help. I have a 2017 Toyota Etios with a gasoline engine and already 47,007km on the clock. Lately, my car has been bouncing like crazy on the road and also blows up with every bump. A warning light is also illuminated in the speedometer. According to my own assessment, there is something wrong with the damper adjustment, but as I was fooled during my last visit to the mechanic, I wanted to ask you for advice first. Have any of you had similar problems and how did you deal with them? What did the mechanic do and how much did it cost? Looking forward to your tips!

Hey, I recently had a similar problem with my 2014 Toyota Yaris. There was also a warning light illuminated and the car behaved strangely on the road. Back then, the problem was the so-called control unit, which was defective. It's hard to say whether this is the case with you, but my mechanic said that this is a common problem with older models. He had to replace the control unit. It was quite a complicated job because the part is quite hidden in my Yaris. It took a few hours to get everything working again. I can't tell you how much it cost, but it was no small effort. The mechanic said it's a serious problem that shouldn't be taken lightly. Maybe you should take your car to the garage and have it checked before it becomes dangerous. Hope this helps you!

Hey, thanks for the reply. It sounds like you had a pretty annoying problem there. Can you remember how much you had to pay for it? Has anything else come up since then, or is the car fine now? Your experience really helps me out, thanks!

Hey, yes, that was really annoying. The repair of the control unit cost me €1000 at the time. It wasn't exactly cheap, but I haven't had any more problems since then. And you're right, the fault in the suspension damper adjustment has now been fixed since I took the car to the mechanic. So I can only advise you to have it done too - better sooner than later! I wish you a safe journey.

Hey, thanks for the details. It's quite a lot of money, but if it really helps and the problems don't occur again in the future, then it's worth it. I'll take my car to the mechanic and have it checked. Thanks again for your help and I wish you safe driving too!
