Taos Climate Control & Sensor Failures Need Fixing

My climate control system is acting up with multiple electrical issues. The AC wont turn on, mirror heating is dead, and washer nozzles freeze in cold weather. The car sensor warning shows an error code. Been to a mechanic before but had a poor experience, so looking for advice before trying another shop. Anyone dealt with similar fog sensor problems in their Taos? Mine is a 2023 gasoline model with 118911km on it. Hoping to hear about repair costs and reliable shops that fixed similar dashboard warning issues properly.

Had the same electrical issues on a 2020 VW T-Cross. The climate control system showed multiple faults because of a damaged wiring harness connector near the climate control module. The main symptoms matched yours, non-functioning AC, dead mirror heating, and frozen washer nozzles. The car sensor warning appeared due to corroded pins in the main connector block. This caused poor electrical contact and triggered the dashboard warnings. The repair required: Complete removal of the lower dash panel, Testing each wire in the harness for continuity, Replacing the main connector block, Sensor calibration of the climate control module, Reprogramming of the windshield fogging detection system This was a serious issue that could have led to complete climate control failure. The visibility systems depending on these connections would have eventually stopped working entirely. The job took around 4 hours at the shop. While inconvenient, addressing wiring issues early prevents more extensive electrical problems later. The new connector block and proper calibration resolved all the warning lights and restored full functionality to the climate systems.

Thanks for sharing that detailed fix. Im dealing with nearly identical issues on my Taos, the humidity sensor malfunction and climate control problems sound exactly like what Im experiencing. The car sensor keeps throwing the same warnings about system errors. Did the repair fully solve everything in your case? My biggest concern is dropping money on a fix that doesnt last. Would really appreciate knowing the total cost you paid for the connector replacement and sensor calibration work. Also curious if any new electrical issues have popped up since getting it fixed. Been putting this off but your post convinced me I should address it before the visibility systems get worse. Just want to be prepared for what Im looking at cost-wise.

Got the repair completed on my T-Cross last month, and I can confirm all electrical issues have been completely resolved. The fog sensor and climate control systems are working perfectly now with no dashboard warning messages since the fix. The total repair cost was 95€ to replace the faulty cable connection and recalibrate the sensors. The malfunction turned out to be simpler than initially expected, just a damaged connector that was causing poor contact. The mechanic found the issue quickly and got everything sorted in under an hour. No new electrical issues have appeared since the repair. The visibility systems are functioning as they should, and the car sensor readings are all normal. The mirror heating, AC, and washer nozzles are working reliably even in cold conditions. The investment was worth it to prevent more serious problems down the line. These connector issues tend to worsen over time and can lead to more expensive repairs if left unchecked. Based on my experience, addressing the problem early was definitely the right call.

Thanks for the advice. After reading about similar experiences, I finally took my Taos to get checked out. The automotive sensor diagnostic confirmed what others mentioned, a bad connector was causing all the electrical issues with the climate control system. The mechanic found corrosion in the main wiring harness and replaced the connector block. The sensor calibration took about 45 minutes after installing the new parts. Total cost came to 120€ which included parts and labor. Really glad I got it fixed, the windshield fogging sensors work properly now and all the electrical issues are resolved. No more warning lights on the dash and everything functions like new again. The washer nozzles work great even in freezing weather. Should have done this sooner instead of putting it off. At least the repair was straightforward once I found a shop that knew what they were doing. Thanks again for helping me understand what I was dealing with.
