Tailgate problem and warning light on Citroën C6 2006 - possible Hall sensor defect

Tailgate does not open automatically

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hi guys, I have a strange problem with my 2006 Citroen C6 petrol car. The tailgate no longer opens automatically and the warning light in the speedometer is illuminated. Could it be the Hall sensor in the tailgate? Have any of you had similar experiences and can perhaps give me some troubleshooting tips? How was the problem solved in the workshop? Thanks for your help!

Hi mate, I had a similar problem with my 2008 Citroen C4 and I have a bit of experience with cars. It turned out that the control unit was faulty, not the Hall sensor. At my garage, they replaced the control unit and it cost around a thousand euros. Nevertheless, which model exactly do you have? Maybe I could help in more detail if I had more information.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! This is a C6 model with 152730 KM on the clock. I only bought the car second-hand last year, so I'm not very familiar with it yet. Maybe it really is the control unit. I thought it could also be the Hall sensor because the problem occurred after I had the car at the last inspection. Do you have any other suggestions on what I could try before I take the car to the garage? Many thanks in advance!

No problem, glad I can help! Your Citroen C6 is a robust car, I'm sure it's nothing too dramatic. I would recommend checking the fuses in the fuse box first. Sometimes it's just a blown fuse that causes symptoms like this. Make sure to check the fuses for the trunk and dash in particular. Before you have the control unit replaced, you could also try having the car read out at a Citroen workshop. The workshop may then be able to read out an error code that indicates the exact problem. This would definitely save you the cost of unnecessary repairs or the replacement of parts that are actually still in order. So check that first. Hopefully it will help you!

Hi buddy! It's really great that you're looking into the problem and thanks for giving me more information. I would really advise you to check the fuses as you suggested and if that doesn't help, maybe have the car read out by Citroen garage. Maybe that can give me more clues before I get involved with repairs. You have really helped me. Thank you very much for your advice!
