T-Roc Heater Fan Failure: Quick Troubleshooting Guide

I noticed my heater fan stopped working completely on my 2021 T-Roc (gasoline, 68967km). The climate control system shows an error code, but the mechanic I usually go to made things worse last time I visited. Has anyone dealt with a similar air circulation issue and can recommend what to check first? Looking for repair experiences and reliable mechanic recommendations, as I want to avoid another bad repair job with the fan speed controller.

I faced a similar climate control issue with my 2018 VW Tiguan. The cabin fan completely stopped working, leaving the HVAC system inoperable. The initial symptoms matched yours, error code on display and no air circulation. After inspection, it turned out the blower motor had failed due to a faulty fan speed controller module. These electronic components often fail together in VW models. The repair required replacing both the blower motor and the controller unit as a set to ensure proper function. This is considered a significant repair since the entire dashboard needs partial disassembly to access the components. The job takes about 4-5 hours for an experienced technician. Attempting DIY repairs on the air conditioning system can lead to more problems due to the complex electronic integration. Important diagnostic signs that confirm this issue: No air flow at any fan speed setting, Climate control panel works but no actual response, Burning smell from dashboard before complete failure, Intermittent function before total breakdown For VW models, this repair should be done at a shop with proper diagnostic equipment to test the new components after installation. The replacement parts need programming to work with the cars electronic system.

Hey, yes, my own T-Roc had the exact same HVAC system failure. The blower motor and controller were both shot, just like your case. The air flow completely stopped working and I had similar error messages on the climate control panel. Was wondering, what did you end up paying for the full repair? Mine was quite steep including labor costs since they needed to take apart the dash. Also, has everything been working properly since the fix? Sometimes these heater fan replacements can cause other small issues to pop up. The repair definitely sorted out my problem, but curious to hear about your long-term experience with the fix.

Had the repair done about 3 months ago and happy to report the air circulation system works flawlessly now. The blower motor replacement fixed all the issues completely, no more error codes and the cabin fan responds perfectly at all speeds. The total repair came to 365€ including parts and labor. This covered both the new blower motor and fan speed controller installation. While it was expensive, the improvement in air flow and climate control function made it worthwhile. Everything has been running smoothly since the fix. The air distribution is actually better than before the original failure, and the blower motor operates more quietly too. No secondary issues have appeared, the climate control system maintains consistent performance at all settings. The key was having a certified technician handle the repair, since they needed to properly calibrate the new components with the cars electronic systems to ensure proper air circulation control.

Thanks for the feedback on the repair cost. I finally got my T-Roc fixed last week after getting tired of the cabin fan problems. Found a specialized VW workshop that diagnosed the electrical wiring issue right away. They quoted 420€ for the complete job. The mechanic showed me the burnt-out blower motor and explained how the fan speed controller had failed. The repair took about 4 hours since they had to remove parts of the dashboard to access the heater fan assembly. The air conditioning works perfectly now, way better air flow than before and completely quiet operation. No error codes since the fix. Worth every cent compared to my previous failed repair attempt at the other shop. Just wish I had found this workshop sooner instead of wasting time with mechanics who made the problem worse. Sometimes paying more for the right expertise saves money in the long run.
