T-Cross Oil Sensor Warning Despite Proper Oil Level

My T-Cross shows oil pressure warnings and error messages in the speedometer. The oil gauge seems off despite proper engine oil levels. Been burned by mechanics before, so I want to make sure I get this right. The car has 87896km on it and runs on gasoline. Anyone dealt with a faulty sensor issue like this? What was your repair experience and cost?

Had a similar situation with my VW Taigo last month. The oil pressure warning kept appearing despite proper automotive oil levels, just like your T-Cross symptoms. The root cause was a faulty oil pressure sensor connection. The wiring harness had corroded where it connects to the sensor, causing intermittent false readings on the oil gauge. This is a known issue that can trigger engine oil warning lights even when oil levels are normal. Repair involved cleaning the connector pins and replacing the wiring harness section going to the sensor. The oil signal returned to normal immediately after fixing the connection. While not a major mechanical problem, ignoring these warnings is risky since you cannot tell if future warnings are false or indicate real oil pressure issues. My car had around 95000km when this happened. The repair was straightforward for an experienced mechanic. Would recommend getting it checked soon, corrupted sensor readings can mask actual oil pressure problems if left unaddressed. This type of car maintenance issue typically gets worse over time if not fixed. The fact that your car still runs normally suggests its likely the sensor/connection rather than an actual oil pressure problem. But best to verify rather than risk engine damage.

Thanks for sharing your sensor repair experience. After my oil pressure sensor got fixed, everything has been working perfectly for the past 6 months with no warning lights. Would you mind sharing what the repair cost you? Just curious if pricing was similar. Quick update on mine: Recently noticed the engine oil temperature gauge sometimes takes longer to move after cold starts, but oil detection and pressure readings remain stable. Wondering if you or anyone else encountered this? Keeping an eye on it during my regular car maintenance checks.

Thanks for asking about the repair costs. Just had the oil sensor issue fixed last week, total came to 95€ for repairing the faulty cable connection. The mechanic found the oil level sensor signal was acting up due to a damaged plug connection, which matches what you experienced. Regarding the slow-moving engine oil temperature gauge: mine occasionally shows similar behavior during winter cold starts, but it hasnt triggered any warnings or affected the oil pressure readings. The automotive oil likely just takes longer to warm up and circulate fully in colder conditions. As long as your oil gauge stays steady after warmup and the sensor readings remain consistent, it sounds normal. The main thing is that your faulty sensor repair solved the warning light issue. Keep monitoring during routine maintenance, but slow temperature gauge movement alone usually isnt cause for concern if all other readings look good.

Thanks for the input. Just wanted to share how my repair went. Took it to a recommended shop that specializes in European cars. The mechanic found corroded wiring near the oil monitoring system, exactly as suggested here. Total repair came to 120€ including parts and labor. They cleaned the connection points and replaced the faulty sensor. The oil gauge now works perfectly and all warning lights cleared up immediately. The slow temperature readings turned out to be normal for cold weather starts. The mechanic explained that the engine oil naturally takes longer to warm up when temperatures drop. After the car warms up, everything reads normally. Really glad I checked here first instead of rushing to replace major components. Saved me from getting overcharged for unnecessary work. Will definitely keep monitoring during future maintenance, but so far everything is running great.
