Hey, you really helped me with your story, sounds totally like what I'm experiencing too. I probably won't be able to avoid a repair... Can you remember what you had to pay and whether there have been any further problems since then? Otherwise it's probably off to the mechanic. Thank you for your help!

Hey, I'm glad I could help you. The repair costs for the lengthened timing chain were €1320 for me. That wasn't a lot of money, but since then the engine has been running like clockwork again, I can tell you. And the previously incorrect position of the crankshaft to camshaft was also fixed during the visit to the mechanic. No more noises, no loss of power and it always starts reliably. So, I really recommend that you tackle this as soon as possible. It's an investment, but it was definitely worth it. No further problems have occurred since then. It's definitely worth a trip to the mechanic before you get even more worried. Hope this helps you with your decision. All the best for the repair!

Hey, wow, that's not exactly cheap, but your words sound really reassuring. The thought that everything could be working normally again gives me hope. Your experience really helps me a lot and it looks like a visit to the mechanic is inevitable. Thanks again for your help and advice! I will start looking for a trustworthy mechanic right now. I hope everything will be ok after the repair. Wish me luck. Take care!

Hey, I've got a 2012 Astra J and I've had exactly the same problem, I'll tell you. In my case, it was really the timing chain that was elongated. The mechanic saw that immediately when he took the head off. The metal shavings in the oil were the footprints of the elongated timing chain in my engine. It had worked its way in there. That was a real problem because the correct positioning of the crankshaft and camshaft is totally important for the functioning of the engine. If something doesn't fit, the engine won't run properly and that can also mean that the car simply won't start. It's really no joke, I tell you. You'll have to do it whether you like it or not, otherwise you risk serious engine damage. It's certainly not a pleasant job, but it's necessary to fix the problem. It's best to do it as soon as possible, because I'm telling you, the damage will only get worse over time. Hope this helps you.
