Symptoms of a possible crankshaft sensor malfunction

Hi, I have a problem with my Skoda Fabia, built in 2018, petrol engine, which has already run 40,000 km. The indicator light flashes, the engine stops by itself, it struggles to start when cold, it loses power and runs rough. I think it could be the crankshaft sensor. Have you had similar symptoms? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hey, your symptoms remind me of a similar problem I had with my 2016 Skoda Octavia. Same signs - check engine light, an engine that wouldn't start and a car that mysteriously lost power. After an inspection in the workshop, the problem was with the control unit. So, it was a serious problem, not a minor one. Hope this helps you.

Hey, your experience sounds pretty similar to my current situation, thanks for the tip about the control unit - I didn't have that on my radar. Do you have any idea what you had to pay for the repair back then? And have there been any other abnormalities since then or has the Octavia been running without any problems since then? It would be great if you could give me some more information. Thank you!

Hey, I'm glad I could help. Wait a minute, I just remembered that it wasn't the control unit after all. That was only the first trace at the time, but it was then ruled out and a malfunction of the crankshaft sensor was rectified and since then my Octavia has been running perfectly without any further abnormalities. The repair cost me €340 - this can of course vary depending on the workshop and the exact defect. All the best with it!

Hey, that sounds really good, and I could live for the price if the car runs smoothly again afterwards. I hope this solves my problem! See you then, and thanks again for your help!
