Suzuki Landy Key Fob Failure, Remote & Start Issues

My Suzuki Landy 2022 (84300km) has been acting up lately. The remote key fob barely works anymore, cant lock or unlock properly from a distance, and now I need to insert the key to start the engine. The dash shows an error code too. I think it might be related to signal interference or a faulty automotive antenna. Has anyone experienced similar issues with their key fob and starting system? Looking for advice before heading to a mechanic since my last repair experience wasnt great. Any input on repair costs or common fixes would be really helpful.

Had the same problem with a Suzuki Swift 2019. The key fob issue typically stems from either signal interference or a damaged antenna mount, not just a dying key fob battery as many assume. In my case, the antenna repair involved replacing the main receiver unit near the steering column. The dashboard was showing error codes related to the immobilizer system. The root cause was a deteriorated cable connection between the antenna and the main control module. This is actually a common issue affecting the keyless entry system. The signal between the key fob and vehicle gets compromised when the antenna mount or its connections start failing. It begins with inconsistent remote locking, then progresses to starting issues as the immobilizer cant properly read the key. The fix requires: Testing the antenna signal strength, Checking all connection points, Possibly replacing the receiver unit, Recalibrating the immobilizer system This isnt a quick DIY fix since it involves vehicle security systems. Would strongly recommend having a qualified technician diagnose it properly, as incorrect repairs can cause more serious electrical issues. Once fixed, the system should work perfectly again, both remote functions and engine start. The repair itself is not particularly complex but requires proper diagnostic equipment.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I had nearly identical symptoms with my Landy last winter, weak key fob range and starting problems. The fm antenna connection was indeed the culprit, just like in your case. The radio signal issues cleared up completely after the repair and I havent had any problems since. Quick question, do you remember roughly what you paid for the fix? My repair bill seemed a bit steep and Im curious to compare. Also, has your system stayed reliable since the antenna repair or have you noticed any other quirks?

Really glad I could help with identifying the car antenna issue. Since seeing the mechanic, everything has worked flawlessly, both the key fob and starting system are back to normal. The repair cost came to 95€ for fixing the faulty cable connection at the antenna mount. This pricing seems pretty standard for this type of signal interference repair work. The fm antenna repair completely resolved all the problems, and I havent experienced any quirks or signal issues in the months since. The remote locking works from a good distance now, and the engine starts perfectly every time. Its definitely worth getting it fixed properly by a professional, as trying to diagnose signal interference problems yourself can be tricky. Just make sure to keep the antenna area clear of debris and check occasionally for any loose connections, this can help prevent similar issues from developing again.

I just wanted to update everyone on how this turned out. Took my Landy to a certified mechanic who specializes in automotive antenna systems. They diagnosed the exact same signal interference issue mentioned here. The repair involved replacing a damaged vehicle antenna mount and fixing some corroded wiring. The whole job cost 120€, which included diagnostic testing and recalibrating the security system. While it was a bit more than expected, the fm antenna replacement has completely fixed both the key fob range and starting problems. The radio signal is much stronger now, and the remote functions work perfectly even from a good distance. No more error codes on the dash either. Really glad I got it sorted properly instead of trying cheaper alternatives first. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction with the antenna repair suggestion. Saved me from spending more time and money trying other potential fixes that wouldnt have solved the root cause.
